Fay's POV
The game was awesome although our school team lost. The storm had stopped when the game ended. Thankfully I hadn't heard the thunderstorms or I would have completely embarrassed myself in front of everyone.
Soon enough, it was Chelsea's birthday. Luckily it was on a Saturday, so I was free to look for a present for her before tonight. I went to the mall. As I was walking past certain stores, window-shopping, I bumped into somebody. Before I could apologize, I saw that it was Brandon. He had worn faded blue torn-up jeans, a white t-shirt and a grey hooded jacket.
" Oh. Hi Brandon."
" Hi. What are you doing here?"
" Looking for Chelsea's present. What about you?"
" Just walking around. I'm surprised you're looking for your best friend's present at the last minute."
" Well...things happened. Can you help me?"
" What? Fay Fitzybl is seeking my help? My eyes and ears might be deceiving me."
" If you didn't want to help me you could have said so." Was I blushing? Damn.
" Who said I don't? I can't pass up the chance where Fay needs my help."
Surprisingly, I found out that Brandon was pretty good at finding a person's taste in something. He had found the perfect present for Chelsea. Actually two. So both of us each had a present for Chelsea. Afterwards, Brandon dragged me to a clothes store. He doubted I had anything good to wear for Chelsea's birthday. I had argued that I had too but when he analyzed what I had worn, he shook his head. I had worn my usual baggy clothes and my favorite sneakers. They were comfortable to be with.
He made me try on a couple of clothes he had chosen. We had made through a couple of clothes stores before we found the one. It was kind of expensive hence made a huge dent on my savings. When I was dealing with the payment of the dress, Brandon left but told me to wait up for him.
Later, I waited for him in one of the cafés and ordered cheese sandwich and coffee. I had texted him where I was as I simply waited. After a while he came with a shopping bag and was accompanied by another guy. This guy was covered with piercings and he had dyed orange hair. He was the same height as Brandon but looked skinnier and paler. I couldn't see his eyes that were hidden by his hair. He had worn a black jacket, a orange t-shirt and grey jeans with black combat boots.
" Yo! I'm back."
" What's with the weird greeting and...umm...whose this?"
" It's my close pal Harry. Found him at one of the stores."
"Ok."
Brandon sat down on one of the chairs next to the table but Harry just stood there his looking away from us. I gave Brandon a questioning gaze but he just shrugged it off and I was kinda peeved.
" Say Harry, do you wanna join us?"
" No thanks. I need to go. Bye Brandon."
" See ya."
He totally ignored me! What a joke! I ordered another coffee while Brandon took his order. While waiting, I pretended to look at my phone as I felt his gaze. It reached a point I had to look up and saw him smirking.
"What?"
" You look pissed off."
"So?"
" Jealous?"
" Why should I be?"
Our orders came and the conversation ended. As I took my coffee, I wondered how nowadays I could easily talk to Brandon. Since our horrible first date, we'll always bad mouth each other but nowadays we talked normally and became good friends. It was if we had forgotten the past.
We talked afterwards as we headed out. He offered to drive me to my place and I accepted. It was late. Almost time for the party. When we reached our place and I almost got out of the car, he gave me the shopping bag he had.
" What's this?"
" It's the last thing you need for your dress."
" Oh. Thanks. I'll return it tomorrow. "
" No need. See you later at the party."
" Ok."
And he drove off when I got off the car. I smiled, holding a strand of my hair as it flew. When did 'this ' happened?
