Before Night Falls

Chapter 26

"We're here" said Roger,my eyes flutter open

"Where are we?" My eyes roaming around our surroundings but I can't see a thing because of the darkness upon us

My hands reaching for his,fear of getting lost at nowhere and quite dark.I can't even found his hands because of the dark and fear started to cripple inside me.I'm kinda afraid of the dark though.

"Roger" I called out for his name

I felt a hand sneak around my waist made jumped a bit.A hot air brushes my cheek,made me winced

"Baby,I'm here" he whispered,pressing his lips on my cheek,I wrapped my hands around his waist,fear that I'll lost in this dark place

"Why is it so dark?" I asked,he pulled me closer to him,resting my head against his muscular chest

"I forgot" I heard a snap and there's many medium sized light blue flames appeared in the dark,making the sight could be seen,I pulled away

My eyes was mesmerized by the amusing scene before me.The blue flames began to line up,to shone our way,revealing a small pebbles path which covered with dried leaves.Our surroundings were surrounded by trees,blocking the moonlight to reached the ground.Gladly these flames help to light our way.

"Shall we?" He asked,putting my hands around his arm,we started to walk along the small pebbles path

A cold wind brushes my skin,made me shiver and I realize that I'm in my night knee-lenght black gown.Roger noticed it and he throw his hand around my arms,warming me with the heat from his hand,he pulled me closer to him.

He leaned down till I can feel his breath against my skin "You look hot in that gown"

"Don't I always?" A smirk played on my lips as I face him

"I prefer you're covered with that damn towel.It makes me wanna bite you badly" he winked,making me pinch his arm hard

He didn't seem affected by it but he gave a playful smile instead "Do that again and I'll bite those pretty lips of yours"

The sound of a river flows greeted my ears,distracting me from Roger's words.We stopped as there's a bridge over a river at our sight.

I let go of my hands from his arm then he wrapped his arm around my shoulder.In a sudden, I felt myself was being lift and I realize that I'm in his arms in a blink of an eye.

I threw my hands around his neck,earning a smirk from him.He lowered his face "I'm going to 'eat' you" he lick his lower lip

Panic crippled as I heard his words. 'Eat'? I gulped

"Roger..put me down" I ordered

My sight was blur and as I realize that he put me down at the edge of the bridge that we just saw.Then,he sat besides me,glancing at me with his blue eyes which sparkle because of the moonlight.

After a few minutes passed with silence,I started the conversation.

"Do you have a family?" Inside of me I feel like I wanna hit myself against a wall

It is the only question that I can figured out.I've no words in my mind though.It surely sounds like a stupid question.Pftt..of course he had one.I look at him,waiting for his answer.

His lips parted but no words came out but then " I had one.Before" I see sadness in his eyes

"Would you mind to share?" I asked,placing my hands on his

He looked away,avoiding my eyes and I know that the answer was a No.I let out a sigh then something came to my mind.

"Look at me,Roger" I held both of his hands tenderly,he glance at me

"If you don't wanna tell then let me see it" my eyes pleaded

He look at me straight into my eyes "It gonna hurt a bit" I gave him a sweet smile while he remain silent

As I look at his eyes an image of a boy emerge.Maybe it's Roger.He hid among the trees so he couldn't be seen.He look worried and sad.His eyes were on something so I search what he's been looking at.I see a young man holding a sword,pointing the sharp end of the sword at a man who knelt in front of him.

I heard little Roger whispered "Father"
