A Fruits Basket Christmas (Special Christmas Chapter)

Nikki's P.O.V.

Ahh Winter Vacation, one of my favorite vacations of from school ever. Why am I so excited you may ask? Well, today's Christmas Eve and the whole house is going to get ready. Right now, Shigure is pulling out the tree from the closet, which we'll soon decorate. And I get to see everyone in the holiday spirit, hopefully Kyo wouldn't be in one of his moods during Christmas. And today and tomorrow are the only days of the year that I get to where my kawaii Santa costume! Maybe I should try it on right now!

"Nikki, where are you going now, we need help with the tree!" Ash said in a slightly irritated tone.

"I'm just gonna change my clothes for a sec." I replied with a small smile. She raised one of her eyebrows, then walked back to the tree. I ran upstairs and I searched throughout the closet looking for my Santa costume. Finally I found a red long sleeved dress with three white pompoms, red and white knee socks, and my special Santa hat with a big white pompom at the top, and a small mistletoe on the corner of the hat. I quickly put it on, then I went downstairs to surprise everyone.

"Okay, who the hell puts up a Christmas tree the day before Christmas! That's ridiculous! How are we supposed to set up everything?!" I heard Katy shout.

"Don't worry, it's a habit of his." Yuki replied as he glared at Shigure, who had his right hand behind his head. Now it was time for me to surprise everyone.

"Ho ho ho! Kitty Claus has arrived!" I beamed happily as I leaped off of the few steps at the end of the staircase. Everyone glanced at me. Kyo, Yuki, Tohru, and Shigure smiled, while Ash and Katy stood in their spots crossing their arms.

"Oh look who has arrived once again this year, Kitty Claus." Ash scoffed.

"The idiot has done it again." Added Katy rudely.

"Hey! Don't call her an idiot." Kyo barked as he walked over towards me.

"Well I'm sorry, she does this every year. When we were little, for Christmas mom bought Nikki a Santa costume and she named Nikki, Kitty Claus. Every year Nikki would put on the dress, and redo that scene she just did. Somehow, Nikki bought another dress without us seeing her purchase it." Katy explained. My smile faded once I heard the story. Usually every year or two, mon would buy me a new Santa costume, but this year I was on my own. I miss her so much, I wish she was here. I then put a fake smile on my face, just so everyone wouldn't overwhelm me by asking if I was okay.

"Yeah so? I think she looks cute in the dress." Kyo complimented. Kyo and I exchanged looks, then we blushed a crimson red.

"Whatever, let's just put up this stupid tree." Katy answered while rolling her eyes.

Everyone walked over to the box that contained the Christmas tree in it. Shigure opened the box and pulled out the tree, along with some help from Kyo and Yuki. Once the tree was up and standing, Tohru brought over a box of ordainments. Tohru pulled out the star that was going to be placed on top, then handed it to Shigure. Since Shigure is the tallest, he carefully placed the star at the top of the tree. Once he did, everyone grabbed an ordainment and placed it on the tree, until all of the ordainments were gone.

"There, the stupid tree is done. Now what?" Katy asked with a hint of annoyance.

"Um well it's almost noon, so I guess we're going to eat now, right Tohru." I replied.

"Eh? Oh um right!" Tohru answered. I walked towards the Kototsu, then I caught the delectable scent of glazed salmon. Since tomorrow is Christmas, I wonder what Tohru will make, maybe ham? Tohru walked inside and placed the glazed salmon and some steamed vegetables into the Kotatsu. Since no one had breakfast because we were decorating the tree last minute, everyone dug right in to their meals.
