Amy’s P.O.V.
“Matt.” I whined. “Where are we going now?”
“Amy, it’s a surprise.” Matt winked at me. What the hell? What kind of answer is that?
“Dammit Matt, I want to know. What happens if I just go with you, to wherever it may be, then, bam. You turn out to be the crazy ax murdering teen throb? I am dead.” I shrieked getting a bit hysterical.
Matt’s luminous emerald eyes opened wide in shock and horror. “How can you even think that?”
I roll my eyes and say, “Well you never know these days do you? You promise you won’t kill me? I’ll behave, well I will try to anyway.” I gave Matt a wink.
Matt stopped in front of this little Victorian Home and he took my hand walking us to the entrance. “We are going to your grandma’s house?” I ask with a slight huff.
“No Amy. Gosh, do you not see the sign?” Matt sighed, shook his head and pointed to a tiny marker above the door. The Lost Cove Inn.
“You dragged me to a hotel?” I screamed and started to pitch a fit. “You don’t even ask me? What do you think we are going to do in this dump?” I rant on and on. And from the outside the place certainly looked like it was lost. Paint was chipping in places and the doorknob looked like it could be pulled out by a freaking kitten.
Matt took my other hand in his, looked directly in my eyes and in a very non Matt tone replied, “I just wanted it to be a surprise. But you barely give me anything to work with and I thought this would be nice.” He dropped my hands and opened the door and walked to a reception area.
I looked up and my jaw dropped. The place was pristine. The small desk shined like the sun emanated from within it. The old lady sitting at the desk was dressed immaculately and was already greeting Matt. The room had beautiful pictures of wildlife hanging on the bright white wallpaper. I stepped closer to Matt and heard the woman say we would be in the Wildlife Cove Suite. I must admit I felt a bit ashamed at myself for acting the way I did outside the Inn.
Matt turned to me and asked me if he could take my hand. All I did was nod and held it out to him. We walked down a narrow hallway to a set of stairs. Matt removed the key from his tuxedo pocket and opened the door. A cool rush of air swept through the hall smelling of freshly cut grass and the morning dew. It smelled like the forest. I loved it. Before I took a step into the room, Matt turned and asked, “May I carry you over the threshold, Amy?”
I gave him a warm smile and said, “Of course you may, thank you for asking.”
He lifted me bridal style, as if I weighed not more than a twig and carried me into the lush suite he rented out for us. While in his arms I looked around and saw three walls that looked like sketches of tree’s leaves, but it was very thick wallpaper in a deep forest green color with engraving on it. The wall behind the bed looked like the bark of a tree, so many different colors mixed together to form a large tree trunk. It was stunning. The ceiling was lavished with gentle hues of blue and white to mimic a slightly cloudy sky. I looked at Matt and with a breathy whisper I said, “Thank you.” He smiled and put me down on the thick rug that resembled a forest more than a room. The enormous bed stood on what looked like animal paws, as with the chairs and tables.
Matt walked over to the bed and sat down, dipping into its soft enfolds. “Amy, come over here, please.” He spoke with a husky predatory manner. I felt compelled to do what he said. I walked over and sat next to this gorgeous lightly tanned boy I met only recently and stared at him waiting to see what was coming next. I felt certain I had to wait for him to do or say something first. Even though my mouth just wanted to spew out a boundless supply of questions, somehow I refrained myself from doing so.
