Lionpaw sat outside the apprentices den, watching his clan-mates talk and interact. It had been two moons since Splash joined Fireclan. Over that time, nothing new really happened. He watched as Splash and Cloudfoot talked by the Fresh-kill pile. They both had gotten close over the past two moons.
"Lionpaw!" Coalpaw chirped, breaking Lionpaw from his thoughts. "Yeah?" Lionpaw asked, turning to his best friend. "Guess what! Guess what!" Coalpaw yowled excitedly, hopping circles around Lionpaw. " You found a nice two-leg to take care of you?" Lionpaw teased. Coalpaw stared at Lionpaw with a bland expression. "No" Coalpaw snapped.
"Then what?" Lionpaw asled curiously. "You and me are going to the gathering!" Coalpaw was bursting with pride. "Great Starclan! Why didn't you tell me!?" Lionpaw yelled excitedly, getting to his paws. "Because you were too busy going on about two-legs, Mousebrain" Coalpaw chirped, as he batted Lionpaw on the ear.
Lionpaw purred. "Come on Lionclaw, let's fight!" Coalpaw growled playfully. "Lionclaw?" Lionpaw echoed curiously . "Yeah, I think that's what your warrior name will be" Coalpaw admitted sheepishly. "Well then Coalfur, prepare to get beaten" Lionpaw growled, as he got ready to pounce. "Bring it on" Coalpaw challenged.
Lionpaw pounced onto Coalpaw, pretending to claw at him. "Stand down Earthclan Warrior" Lionpaw growled. "Never!" Coalpaw yowled, as he batted Lionpaw lightly in the face. Lionpaw staggered back, pretending that he just relieved a might blow to the face. He shook it off, and glared at Coalpaw. "Give up Coalfur!" Lionpaw growled. "As if I would do that, Lionclaw" Coalpaw snapped back.
Lionpaw pounced onto Coalpaw, but Coalpaw was ready. He flipped Lionpaw onto his back and pinned him. Lionpaw retaliated by flipping Coalpaw on his back. Soon, the apprentices were rolling around in the grass, growling and snarling.
"What are you two doing?" Ravenpaw snapped. Lionpaw looked up to see Bramblepaw, Ravenpaw and Honeypaw staring down at them. Lionpaw caught Honeypaw's gaze, but she looked away. " Having fun!" Coalpaw growled , tugging on Lionpaw's ear.
Ravenpaw rolled her eyes, and began to walk away. "Come on guys, leave the kits to it" Ravenpaw ordered. Bramblepaw began to follow Ravenpaw but Honeypaw stood in front of Coalpaw and Lionpaw."C-can I play?" Honeypaw asked shyly.
