"Lionpaw, get up!" A familiar voice whispered, as a soft paw prodded his side. "Huh?" Lionpaw muttered groggily. "We will be late for training!" The voice warned. Lionpaw's exhaustion faded quickly and was replaced by eagerness.
He got to his paws and nodded his thanks to his best friend Coalpaw. "Thanks Coalpaw" Lionpaw muttered gratefully. Coalpaw chuckled and nodded. "No problem" Coalpaw nodded. Lionpaw shook off the moss that clung to his golden pelt, and exited the apprentice den.
He blinked harshly, his eyes adjusting to the sunlight. "Move traitor" a familiar voice hissed, and Lionpaw felt another pelt push him out of the apprentices den. "Morning, Honeypaw" Lionpaw rolled his eyes. Honeypaw glared at him. "Your worse than a kittypet" she hissed scornfully, and turned on her heal to leave.
Lionpaw watched her retreating figure and turned to Coalpaw. "What's with her?" He muttered. Coalpaw shrugged. Lionpaw sighed, and began to walk towards the fresh-kill pile. He chose a sparrow and settled down to eat it.
"Hello young ones" a familiar voice chuckled. "Cloudfoot" Lionpaw nodded, as he looked up at his mentor. "Are you ready for training?" Cloudfoot asked. Lionpaw nodded. "Come" Cloudfoot ordered with a flick of his tail. Lionpaw got to his paws and said goodbye to Coalpaw. He then, eagerly followed his mentor.
