Chapter 26

The camp was going to end the next day in the afternoon and before then Neal had left early in the morning. Everyone was preparing to leave and Chuck had already promised to take Toni with him since he couldn't bring her that time, but just as they were about to leave fleet of cars started to troop in one by one, everyone stared as they came in and they all knew who they came for. Chuck cursed silently as two men walked towards him.

"Charles the President...."

"Shut up" Chuck said immediately "I'm not going"

"We're on orders and the President said we can touch you if there is need to"

"it's fine Chuck. I can go on my own, just go" Toni told him

"I don't want to" he held her back "I promised you"

"it's okay" she said pulling her hand away "Promises can be broken, I'll call when I get home" with that she walked away.

When she got home she met strange cars and strange men in front of her house like they were waiting for her. On seeing her one of the men approached her.

"Miss Toni Jasper?" the man called

"Who are you?"

"You have to come with us. We're on orders from the White House"

On hearing White House Toni began to feel nervous, she knew it was about Chuck. If it was the President calling her what was she going to do or say.

"White House" she repeated with a shaky voice "I have no business there"

"Well you do now Miss" the man told her

"But I need to know why?" she insisted

"Please come with us. You'll know when we get there"

Toni took a deep breath and got into one of the cars, then she was taken to the President's office. She recognised this place. As a child she had always come here with her parents when they had business with the former presidents. But somehow she didn't choose that path.

"Sit" the President said at once she came in without even looking up.

"Toni Jasper" he called her name calmly but fiercely and then he looked up. Tonight had her eyes down, trying to stop her hands from shaking seriously. She never thought meeting with the President was going to be one of the consequences of dating Chuck, it was scary sitting here and having this man bore his eyes into her.

"What's your relationship with my son" he asked. Toni looked up and back down immediately. What was she going to say? Boyfriend? Friend? Classmate? Reading buddy? Gosh! This was so infuriating. But Chuck was her boyfriend nothing less and she couldn't deny it.

"He's my boyfriend" she said in low tone and rushing the boyfriend part.

"Boyfriend?" the President chuckled "What is wrong with you teenagers. You know Charles has a fiancee right?"

Toni nodded "I know"

"That's good then so I'll just make it simple. Break up with him"

Toni looked up immediately in shock on hearing what he told her. How could she break up with him. She knew Chuck loved her and she loved him too. He's been through a lot trying to make up time to see her, kissing her in front of the whole school and then when she breaks up with him everything would be for nothing.

"I can't"

The President chuckled again "why?" he said plainly

"I.... I.... " Toni stuttered not knowing what to say

"You love him" he cut in "That's what you want to say" Just then he looked away chuckling a bit to hide his anger that was already building. He knew the kind of future he had in plan for his youngest son by the time he gets married to Natasha then everything will be for nothing because of some stupid teenage love with a girl he doesn't even know her parents.

"ok" he said suddenly "Who are your parents"

Toni shot him another look, wondering why he was asking about her parents. She hated to talk about her parents for reasons she wasn't ready to disclose. They were alive and healthy living some where on earth always telling her to come live with them but she always refused. She was about to say something when the door suddenly flung open and Chuck walked in. He had an angry look on his face as he looked from Toni to his father

"What are you doing here?" he asked Toni angrily

"I called her" his father answered
"Stand up!" he ordered

"Chuck" she called silently unable to stand up because of the President

"I said stand up!" he screamed loudly then immediately he walked towards her and pulled her up and out of the room with him angrily.

Toni stopped at a point unable to keep up with him because he walked very fast and held her wrist tightly

"Chuck calm down" she said but he ignored her pulling her again. When they got outside Toni pulled her hands away from him making Chuck turn back.

"Why are you so angry, you were hurting me"

"Why did you go there? Do you have to go everywhere you're called? Are you a child?" he screamed angrily at her

"What could I have done? Ignore your dad? I already prepared my mind for this. Why are you screaming at me like it's totally my fault"

"You could've called me. I don't want you facing my dad because of me. I don't want you to be scared of going out with me. I don't want to lose you" Just then he pulled her into his embrace stroking her hair

"I'm sorry I screamed at you. I won't do it again I promise but you have to promise me one thing"

"What?" she pulled herself from him looking into his eyes

"No matter what happens you'll stick by my side. You won't ever leave me. Promise me that you'll always be my girl"

"I promise" she said hugging him again
