Chapter 40

Spring break was over and the everyone was returning back home to resume school as well as other stuffs. Chuck and Toni flew in to DC that evening and Chuck had offered to drop Toni at home, well that was his duty anyways. Toni's heart kept pounding every now and then on their way home because she knew she had to break up with him. She had to bite her lips every now and then to stop the tears from falling. Sometimes she just wanted to forget about what Chuck's dad said and move on with Chuck but each time the words 'you're ruining Chuck's future' kept coming to her head, and that was the last thing she wanted to do after all they said if you love something let it it go. So she was going to let go of Chuck for the best of the two of them.

"Are you okay?" Chuck asked noticing her nervousness and the way she kept biting her lips continuously

"Yea" she replied almost immediately trying to sound normal

"Or you're missing me already?" Chuck joked and Toni chuckled not wanting to say anymore she just held unto Chuck's hand tightly wanting to savor the moment while it lasted.

When they got Toni's residence after Chuck had paid for the Taxi .

"Goodnight" he hugged her kissing her forehead "I'll see you at school tomorrow" he turned to leave

"Chuck" she called him back

"Yes baby" he turned back

Toni fiddled with her fingers and stared at her feet

"I think we should....." She murmured quietly. "Let's break up" she finally breathed out and Chuck froze at her words, hoping he didn't hear her correctly

"What?"

"Let's break up" she repeated herself

"Toni..." Chuck gasped

"I'm sorry Chuck" she said with tears flowing from her eyes "Let's just end it here"

"Toni" he moved closer to her and held her arms looking into her eyes while she tried to avoid it

"Look at me" he commanded and she obeyed reluctantly looking into his eyes that showed hurt and pain

"You promised that you wouldn't leave....if it's because of my dad....."

"Chuck stop" she interrupted him "it's not because of your dad"

"Then why are you breaking up with me"

Toni searched for the right words to say, reluctant to speak, she just wished Chuck would just accept it and leave her alone

"Why are you breaking up with me" he raised his voice a bit

"I like someone else" she let out and that moment Chuck let go of her as a tear rolled down his cheek. He couldn't believe what he just heard, how could Toni like someone else after he loved her with everything he had. He was way beyond hurt, he wanted to believe she was lying, he looked at Toni and she was crying he hated to see her cry, now how was he going to comfort her when he was hurting too, when he was hurting a lot

"Liar!" He told her "You love me Toni how could you like someone else?"

"I loved you Chuck" she choked back a sob "Just not anymore"

Chuck gasped looking away from Toni, it wasn't even up to a week when Toni promised not to leave him and she was breaking up with him. He couldn't believe it

"I'm sorry Chuck, you just have to let me go"

"I just did" Chuck spat and walked away trying to control himself from breaking down there.

Toni watched him leave she was screaming in her mind for him to come back but what's the use. It was all in her mind and Chuck was never going to hear her. She went into her house, luckily there was no one at home at least Suzy was not back from her home on Atlanta. There were both in High school but attended different schools and she was a senior anyways.
She went to her room and dropped to the floor crying uncontrollably, hugging her knees. She lost Chuck and she didn't know how she was going to forget him and all their memories together, even in school how was she going to face him?. Suddenly she had the overpowering urge to self harm that she couldn't suppress. It was yet another battle with her self that she was going to lose. She reached for the blade which was her best friend yet worst enemy. She rolled her sleeves and began to cut

One cut.....

Two cut....

How much self hatred someone has to take a blade and cut his/her own skin and feel almost nothing at all. She cut a little more and began to feel a bit lightheaded. She cleaned her wounds and decided to sleep.

A short chapter, yeah I know. The next one will be a longer.
