Chapter 41

The next day at school, the Triads were together in Neal's practice room as usual. Neal and Ian were discussing about spring break and Ian was talking about LA and all the celebrities he was supposed to meet, just then a question was directed at Chuck

"So how was it with Toni?"

Chuck rose his head up revealing his very visible dark circles and a bit swollen eyes

"Shit man! What's up with your eyes?" Ian asked him looking surprised

"I didn't get enough sleep" Chuck replied quietly

"Why? Dad worries?" Neal asked

"Partly"

"But your eyes don't get this swollen in losing a night sleep, we all attend parties....."

"Or were you were crying?" Neal asked suddenly

"Cut it man" Chuck said a bit annoyed

"Wait a moment" Ian stopped him "is it Toni?"

Chuck bit his lips at the mention of her name and he didn't know how to answer because he was not yet ready to let go of her, but that moment the bell rang and Chuck sighed mentally in relief.

"I have math" he was about to leave but Ian held him back

"Tell us dude, what happened?"

"Ok fine! We had a bad break up, I think it's because of my dad but she claims she loves someone else so there's nothing I can do"

"You're just going to let go of her like that?" Neal questioned

"I don't know, my head is in a turmoil. I need to go" Chuck excused himself and left the room. He's head was pounding really hard because he didn't get enough sleep last night because he was thinking about Toni. He knew it was because of his dad but why did it hurt so much when she lied about loving someone else. He was glad he didn't have any class with her that day because the awkwardness would have been too much for him to handle.

Just then on his way to his math class, he saw Toni approaching and he he felt his heart skip a beat. He was looking at her and she was looking back at him. Her eyes were sullen and she had visible dark circles, she looked really sad and he had to restrain himself from stopping to ask her if she was okay. But then what surprised him most was that she was wearing a jacket, it was like so hot and students wearing jackets during this period buy Toni didn't mind. It was really weird, but then he couldn't ask her, he couldn't even bring himself to say hi. Why would he? After all she liked to someone else.

Toni's heart fell when Chuck passed her, she wasn't expecting him to talk to her but all the same it still hurt that she couldn't talk to him either. She knew she hurt him but she was more hurt and she didn't if she'd ever be better.

Suddenly two girls approached, both were blonde and had bright blue eyes like barbie dolls

"Why are both of you acting so weird to each other"
Toni stared wide eyed wondering why on earth they were minding her business.

"I don't what you're talking about" Toni told them

"You and Chuck. Aren't you guys dating but you just passed each other like strangers" the first blonde said

"That's absolutely none of your business! What if I'm not a fan of PDA"

"Ugh!! Please" one of the blondes sighed tiredly "There's no girl in this school who isn't a fan of PDA, who doesn't want to show off their boyfriends"

"Me! Now leave me alone" she was about to walk away but the second blonde held her back

"We're not done talking, just because you're dating the President's son doesn't make you bigger or better than us"
Toni gasped, that was a line from middle school when she was bullied

"Because your daddy has a lot of money doesn't make you bigger or better than us"

Toni shivered at the memory as she felt tears sting her eyes. She never wanted to remember those time but now it seems they were naturally coming back to her

"Just let me go"

"Why should we?"

"I need to get to class"

"What are you? A nerd"

Toni fought the urge to roll her eyes and she stared tiredly at them "what kind of airheads are these" she thought
Just then Daniel came and wrapped his hands around her shoulder

"What are you doing? Come on let's go" he said and pulled her away

"Thanks" she muttered on their way

"What was that all about?" Daniel asked

"Nothing much"

Then Daniel looked closely at her noticing something was definitely off. First off she looked pale, and then she was wearing a jacket during spring when it was a 100°C

"Why are you wearing a jacket, it's spring you know"

"I was kinda cold" she lied. She would have preferred it if it was winter no one would ask her why she wore long sleeves or jackets.

"But not now, so take it off"

"No its okay. I don't want to"

"You sure?" Daniel asked again.

She was about to say something when she saw Chuck at the other end with Natasha clinging to his arm. She was saying something to him and he smiled at what she said. Chuck looked over and locked eyes with Toni and then just looked away immediately. It was the second time he was ignoring her and it hurts. She tried her best not to cry but the pain was just too much for her to handle.

"Hey Toni what's wrong?" He asked looking in the direction she was staring at, immediately he grabbed her hands and pulled her away to a more quiet place

"We had a bad breakup" Toni said to Daniel when they were alone

"It freaking hurts to see him with some one else" she had tears streaming down her face.

"Why did you guys break up?"

"I can't say" Toni sobbed not wanting to go through that whole heart wrecking story. Just then he pulled her in for a hug while she cried into his shoulder. He wiped her tears searching for something to say to make her feel better and didn't sound cliché

"Come on, I'll take you somewhere nice"

"But school's just starting" Toni objected

"Live a little Eva Gold"

Toni gave him a hard stare "Call me Toni"

"Fine then and now let's go and have fun and forget about some son of the president"

"He has no idea" Toni thought forcing a smile.

Whoa!!!! I finally updated. I've been really busy. Well I'll update more often since Cambridge A level  exams are partially over
Hope you enjoyed this chapter though it was just a filler chapter

Better chapters are coming and if you must know, they're really cliché and the book's almost done
