ii. MONSTERS! DARK CREATURES! I KNOW!

I KNOW ALL ABOUT MONSTERS
The ones that lurk under the full moonlight. The ones that hide in plain sight. The
ones draped by darkness. The ones that buzz and whirl and fly. The ones that are
half human. The ones that exist between two worlds.
I KNOW ALL ABOUT DARK CREATURES
The ones that storytellers love to talk about. The ones that anthropologists scoff at.
The ones well versed in mythology love to research. The ones that hide under the
beds of little children. The ones no one wants to believe in.
I THINK I KNEW ONE ONCE
I won't tell you his name, not yet. But he saw himself as a monster. One that lurks
under the full moonlight. One that is half human. One that wakes up covered in
blood and tears and more scars than you can count. He was afraid of the way
people would see him if they knew. I knew and I loved him still.
HE TOLD ME ALL ABOUT MONSTERS
The ones that were all aforementioned, he told me about. He may have been a dark
creature himself, but God he loved to study the ones he wasn't.
I KNOW ALL ABOUT MONSTERS
Maybe they aren't all frightening and dangerous. Maybe they're just broken and sad
and hate the position they're in. Maybe they want normal lives. Maybe they're sick
of being shunned and ignored and forgotten by the whole world.
I know all about monsters,
But I don't like to call them that.
I know all about the broken people;
I knew one once.

[A/N: I wrote this about the love my of life, my husband (who happens to be a
fictional character). 10 points to *insert your Hogwarts house here* if you can
guess who.]
