x. THE FEELING OF ANTICIPATION
did you see that?
tell me! did you see it?
did you see the shooting stars in my eyes?
did you see the roses in his cheeks?
could you feel the earthquake in my bones?
today i learned emotions are different from feelings.
emotions are one dimensional.
they have no substance.
EMOTIONS ARE: HAPPY, SAD, ANGRY.
but feelings are something else.
feelings are multi-dimensional.
you notice them in the marrow of your bones.
you can sense them on the tip of your tongue,
ready to spill out into the world in the form of words.
[once they spill you can't clean them up]
FEELINGS ARE: DREAMY, LIVID, BITTER, GREY
everything is rose tinted.
i'm in a state of grace;
[another feeling, if you will].
i was thinking of him and suddenly i saw everything in pairs.
everything in twos.
the planes. the birds. the clouds.
everything in couples.
[oh god what a magnificent feeling!
the feeling of anticipation.]
at least i'm positive i am no longer numb.
i am now aware of what i'm doing -
i'm standing in the middle of the road
. . .
waiting.
maybe the cars will hit me.
maybe they'll miss.
i'm in love with the feeling of anticipation.
