I hit send on the text message and clicked the power button on the side before Cisco could snatch the phone out of my hand.
"Hey!"
"So Rose, who are you texting?" Cisco said with a smile as he hit the power button on the phone. He swiped the screen and pouted. "And why is it locked?" I took the phone from him.
"So you don't go snooping. And a friend if you must know."
"Not Snart," Caitlin's face scrunched up as she said his name.
I shook my head, "No. He and I aren't on speaking terms." I felt a slight breeze when Barry walked over from the bar, where he had been sitting alone. Even in the dim lighting of the bar, I could see a tinge of sadness in Barry's eyes. I shot a quick glance over at Iris. I only ever saw that sadness when he talked about his father, mother, or her. It was still strange to me that she couldn't see how much he loved her.
"I have a problem," Barry said as he set down a tray of shots on the table. Cisco glared over at Eddie.
"We all do when guys like him exist," Cisco replied before taking a drink. Caitlin looked back over at Eddie and Iris, who were playing darts.
"He's so hot," Caitlin sighed. "Uh, I mean, genetically speaking. Because I'm a geneticist, of course. Do I sound like Felicity?"
I nodded as my nose scrunched up. Cisco bumped his arm against mine.
"What do you think Rose? Is Eddie hot?" Caitlin lightly punched Cisco. I shook my head.
"Eddie is one of my best friends. Practically a brother. Plus, I'm more into the bad boy types when it comes to guys," I winked before taking a sip of my martini.
"No, guys, not Eddie. This," Barry then took five shots. "I can't feel anything."
"Of course not," I said. "It hasn't hit you yet. And now I'm mad. I wanted at least one of those."
Barry shook his head, "No. The alcohol isn't affecting me at all."
"Must be that killer metabolism," I commented. Cisco and Caitlin immediately went into nerd mode, going to get more shots and pull out blood sample kits. "And here I was hoping we would get drunk enough I could talk you all into going dancing. Not collecting blood samples."
"You have your hobbies; I have mine," answered Caitlin as she continued to dig around in her purse. Cisco returned with a tray of shots. We all did a few rounds before Barry called it off.
"How is it that I'm 25 and my drinking days are already over?" Barry complained. I shrugged.
"At least you won't have to deal with hangovers," I commented. "I envy you on that." Eddie and Iris came over, telling Barry it was his turn. Eddie's phone started to buzz. A bombing. I glanced over at Barry. It was time to go. Everyone started making excuses and leaving the bar. Barry and I raced out, changing as we went to the scene.
Barry got us into an alleyway, both of us fully costumed, next to the building. The costume Cisco made me was just as badass as Barry's. It was the same red color and tightness with no emblem on it. And instead of a full mask, it was a small one, like the Canary's. Cisco wanted to put an emblem on the suit, but we had yet to figure out what it should be. A fire roared over our heads and a man dangled from the scaffolding a couple of floors below it. If he fell, it would be mess. The man above screamed for help.
"We can't catch him," I told Barry and the team, using a virtually invisible earpiece Cisco installed.
"Well, is there, like, a bed store near here?" questioned Barry. "What if I get a bunch of mattresses and stack them?"
