Depression

A mental illness that affects
How you feel
How you think
How you see the world

You let your mind wander
You feel lost
terribly trapped

But you keep it on the inside and hide
behind a smile

It's like a rainy day
Surrounded by darkness and loneliness
Forced to stay inside your own home
With thoughts they are as clear as mud

You fall in a deep hole
Full of deadly emotions
You attempt to climb back up
But you keep falling back down

The monsters don't hide under your bed
They hide inside your head
Attacking your thoughts and memories
To the point where you've forgotten who
you used to be

They think it's just sadness
Saddest is like a fever
It comes and goes
Depression is like cancer
You wind this battle
Or you die trying to do so
