You have known him much longer
than I have and there is no doubt
you know him better than I do.
You know his favorite songs.
You've seen the way he falls asleep,
the way his guard falls away.
You know the things that break his heart and the things that give him life.
So here's what I ask of you.
When his favorite song comes on the radio and he turns it up with a grin,
don't roll your eyes and shrug him off, but sing along and learn to love
the words that touch his heart.
When he's falling asleep in the backseat of his sisters car after a long day,
hold his hand and
rest your head on his shoulder
and appreciate the simplicity
of just being able to exist next to him.
Understand that quiet moments do not come along too often in life,
and certainly not ones that are able
to be shared with others.
When he is broken, be there for him at his door, not on the phone;
words don't hold people, arms do.
I beg you to never be the
cause of his hurt.
Don't break a heart
that is beating for you.
He loves you.
You must understand this.
He loves you.
