 It was a little miracle.

The staple gun held in the henchman's hand had originally been created and manufactured by an ordinary and dull stationary company by the name of PEN. The particular company had been suffering after a failed merger with another stationary retailers by the name of PENCIL IS KING. The resultant merged company PEN IS KING, had broken up after wide spread confusion with a specialist plastic surgeons of a similar name.

The particular staple gun aimed at Pax's head had been modified at the hands, screw driver and glue stick of the Evil One. The man's smile widened as one staple was fired from the staple gun. The deadly piece of metal flew through the air at the speed of a very fast car or very very slow light that had let its self go a bit. Directly in its path was Pax's rather fragile cranium.

A few tiny fractions of a second before the firing of the staple, Pax had activated a trap. The wooden arrow flew through the air having been released from a powerful mechanical contraption of gears, cogs and springs cunningly hidden in the wall. Had the arrow been a living conscious being it would not have been a very evil creature. All it would have wanted to do was get from point A to point C, passing through point B. Therefore it was unfortunate for all involved that point B happened to be Pax's head.

The head in question was moving back at an angle as Pax fell. As he fell he bumped into Sarah, pushing her down with him and causing her to shriek in surprise.

It was a little miracle that the staple fired at Pax's head hit the flying arrow. The arrow burst into thousands of small but effectively harmless splinters as the staple plowed into it. The staple its self bounced upwards from the force of the coincidental collision, embedding its self in the ceiling.

Pax fell to the hard stone ground, unharmed but for a light bruise and a few small splinters. He managed to shout "Run!" before all hell broke loose.

Sarah, pushed by Pax, also hit the ground. She instinctively put her hands forward to break the fall. However her hand landed on a brick and she cursed as the brick sunk under her weight and she heard the click of a mechanical trap being activated.

A previously hidden axe fell from the ceiling which Sarah just managed to avoid by rolling sharply to her left. She heard another click as her shoulder rolled over another brick that sunk. Sarah gripped the floor with the soles of her shoes and dived forward rolling onto her stomach, just as a sharp set of spears rose from the ground she had been lying on seconds before. Sarah was about to get up to run when she heard another click and realized her knee had pressed yet another booby trapped brick. She saw the flicker of movement and jumped  as a scythe ran horizontally across the space she had just been crouching in, passing harmlessly a millimeter below the soles of her feet but taking a thin slice of her shoe. She landed on two feet but staggered, reaching out a hand to the wall to steady herself. She cursed as a brick in the wall sunk with a now familiar click.

Pax smiled as he jogged for the other end of the passage. The stupid girl was setting off all the traps, which was making the trip a whole lot easier for Pax who was following in her footsteps. He watched with an interested smile as the girl narrowly dodged the cannon balls fired from the wall, deftly avoided the plummeting spikes and fought off the beaver which was dropped from the ceiling, they were nearly at the door to the display area.

He looked back and saw the henchmen making their uncertain way into the path, their smiling boss behind them. One of the henchmen put out a probing toe to step on a brick labeled "Don't step on this"

The other henchman held him back, "Don't you idiot! Its a trap. Its reverse reverse reverse psychology."

"Oh my god! is it? " exclaimed the other shocked henchman, "Well done for noticing."
