Elfrida
It was the beginning of the end, Elfrida thought gloomily to herself, they are all starting to doubt me now. She was standing just outside the cabin, leaning against the back wall.
What's sad is that she knew this had to happen. The doubt. The betrayal. But she couldn't help but want to be in her blood sisters' good graces for a little bit longer. She had only been here for only a little more than a day. Life was unfair though, Elfrida wasn't meant to stay with them for very long.
That's what she told Audrey when they left the dining hall that morning for a small meeting. She and Audrey reviewed the plan. They needed some way to get Cammi and Akili out of the school, and hopefully get the traitor to come out of the dark to warn her blood sisters that she was not to be trusted.
Elfrida knew that boy in the bedroom was not the traitor, no it was someone else. It was regrettable that he died, but he just was not careful enough to wait a little ways away from the cabin for Elfrida. The only reason the boy had come was to give Elfrida a massage from James, warning her that one of the members had disappeared. It was a very important message. The Master does not allow for traitors in his group. She doesn't even want to think of the punishment he would give them for not catching the traitor.
The sun was almost down, she had spent the entire day outside away from everyone, waiting for the traitor to show up. And she was wondering why she was taking so long, maybe thinking that if she waited for everyone in the cabin she'd have a better chance of not being killed by Elfrida. One think that gets to Elfrida is who it was that had betrayed them.
Elfrida shivered, but not from the wind.
Mia, the nervous quiet junior, one of the girl's in Audrey's small circle, was the traitor. She never would have expected it to be Mia. Elfrida had thought it was rare bravery that made Mia say that she would stand behind them that one day, but really she was just trying to avoid suspicion. Smart girl. If she wasn't betraying her, she would have been proud. Actually she is a bit proud.
She sighed, Mia should be getting here soon. That's when some of the fun will start. One thing the Master told her is to think of everything like a play. Everyone has their parts to play and their lines to say. No matter how small.
Elfrida spent the rest of the day thinking about what was to come, feeling surprisingly a bit guilty. She never would have thought she would miss something she could never have. It was getting dark when Mia finally arrived.
She came right to the front door of the cabin and knocked. When Elfrida heard it open, she heard a shout of warning go through the small place. And then heard many feet joining Mia outside. Elfrida pushed off of the wall and slowly made her way around the cabin.
Elfrida was just arriving when Cammi demanded for Mia to tell her why she was here. Mia was surrounded by everyone, she looked extremely nervous and fearful at this. And then she saw Elfrida on the outside of the circle, standing closer to the woods than anyone else.
Mia pointed at her and said, "Her! Her! I came because of her!" At their bewildered looks she said. "I had to warn you. She is still part of Of The Woods."
Elfrida circled around everyone so that she was standing behind Mia and outside of the circle. Her sisters, Chase, and Cole were standing in front of the cabin, their eyes wide. Except for Cammi, she kept her face composed. "Mia how can that be true. We all saw her in the early morning, when Audrey walked in she wasn't standing with her and when she was taken away, she was scared to death of Audrey."
