Keita led us out of the club through the flood of loyalist Kazeukuyan soldiers and started to guide us towards the jails. Fighting had erupted in the main court and bodies were falling from overhead from the balconies. As we sprinted throughout the palace, I made an effort to wound Dark Brigade mercenaries along the way, planting my black blade into a monster every now and then to help. Keita was doing the same.
"Everyone duck!!"
At first I didn't understand why, but I instinctually did as Keita commanded. From above, a swarm of airborne, insect-like monsters began to rush down towards us.
After everyone, including some Dark Brigade that got the memo, ducked, Keita thrust up his arms at the monsters and began radiate brightly with immense energy. His bright blue eyes began to spark and radiated white.
With a colossal crashing sound, Keita covered everything from his arms up in an eruption of electricity, thick with power and destruction. Every airborne monster did not even have a chance to touch the ground, having been disintegrated.
The Dark Brigade mercenaries, even some of the Kazekuyans, in the room stared at Keita in horror. Keita looked around at the crowd around him.
"Don't stop now."
Keita lowered his left arm and, from his right, shot out powerful tendrils electricity into the surrounding mercenaries. Wordlessly, he pushed through the fight and continued to leads us.
How... is he so strong?...
I followed behind Falen, Riku, and Koneko as they followed the headstrong Keita, who pushed everything, friend or foe, out of his way. We were brought to an elevator, in which we all stopped to wait for it to arrive. In the few seconds of waiting, we fought off some lesser Dark Brigade monsters. When the elevator arrived, I sent forth a mass wave of flash fire to push back the horde, allowing us to enter it without any more obstructions. The doors closed and we began to descend.
Smooth jazz played over the small speakers of the elevators, which was nice, nice break from the war cries and shouts above us. Keita clenched his jaws and closed his eyes. I could tell he didn't enjoy the music as much as I did.
As soon as the elevator reached a stop, Keita shot down the doors in front of us, which cleared out a small path of monsters that stood waiting for us. Taken by surprise, the monsters that weren't in the way didn't even have time to raise their weapons.
Keita leapt up and began to fly over the monsters, striking some along the way, further into the prison to release the loyalists. We didn't need anybody to tell us what we needed to do.
There were only about two dozen monsters in the room, but two had already been taken out by the doors and Keita had taken out four along the way, leaving the rest of us not much to do.
I grabbed the face of a horse-man and started to burn it's skull as I sliced through its upper torso and slashed outwards. I tossed it's body into a two-headed, bipedal alligator warrior that Falen was fighting. She scoffed at my help before lunging at a cyborg and commencing to rip it to shreds with her retracted claws. Riku used his raw strength to slam enemies into each other and the walls while using his speed to confuse the ones that watched him. Koneko followed after Riku and landed finishing blows on the enemies with her... Uhm... "Neko energy."
The prison was cleared quickly and Keita returned to us with a group of prisoners who filed out of the prison's armory, where the guards were originally supposed to be able to draw weapons from. Keita nodded to me and walked past me to the elevator, leading the group to it.
"Those who can't fly, take the elevator, everyone else, we'll take the long way, a set of spiral stairs from the torture chambers, still a ways from here," Keita commanded, already taking off into the direction of the apparent torture chambers. Most of the prisoners followed Keita and I would have too, if we weren't interrupted.
