As I approached the North entrance of the Arena, a group of sophomores were filling out of it complaining about juniors and it being too cold or something. I thought about asking them what happened, but upon catching the closing door, I could see inside of the Arena and what had happened.
Mizu was doing what seemed to be a mix between ice skating and some type of awkward flailing on an all-ice floor, that was, until I noticed that his flailing was actually a series of precise strikes carried out through intricate spins and twists in the air while moving.
I stepped out onto the frictionless icy surface and began to walk towards Mizu, raising the temperature around my feet to 160°F to instantaneously melt the ice that I stepped on. Mizu stopped, turned to me, smiled, and began to " skate" towards me.
"Shizuo!" He exclaimed as he approached me.
I looked around the Arena, taking note of obvious patches of ice strewn out on the bleachers and parts of the ceiling.
"Safe to say that you were training in here?" I sarcastically asked him.
He nodded, "Yep," he looked around as well and open his eyes in shock, as if he didn't know that he made a mess of the Arena, "Did I do this?"
I shrugged, "Do you see any other water/ice users around here, Mizu?"
Mizu paused for a second, raised his right index finger, lowered it, looked around the room and then back to me.
"No," he said, laughing sheepishly.
I smiled at him and began to make my way towards a not-frozen section of the bleachers.
"Continue what you were doing, I'll just sit here and watch," I called out to Mizu as I made my way away from him.
Mizu started to walk after me, "Wait Shizuo! How about we spar instead? That way we can both do something right now!"
I stopped and turned around to face Mizu, "Are you sure?" I said as I unslung my backpack and into my right hand.
Mizu stepped back a little to widen the gap between us, now 20 feet, "Sure, let's do it," he said determinedly, "I'll beat you here and then everybody will see how strong I really am."
I turned to the left and swung my backpack 30 feet away into the bleachers and turned back to Mizu, "Whatever you say then."
I grinned as I pulled my right leg back and held up my fists to my face defensively. Mizu pointed at the ground (with his right hand) at my feet and four hands made out of ice reached up and grabbed my ankles, he then changed his pointing finger into an open palm and immediately a stream of water shot out towards me. I was unable to move at the moment, but I was still in a good, grounded spot. I kept my fists held up and as the water neared and yelled as I shot up a shield of white flame in front of me, evaporating the water as it came.
Normally, water would be prove a problem to any fire user, but my fire is mature and may vary in intensity and color as a result, something that many other fire users do not have.
When Mizu let up his stream of water, he summoned a sword made of super-compact ice and charged at me. I ignited my legs only in (red) fire, melting off the hands, held up my right hand, and my black-bladed sword was summoned. I too charged forward and once close enough, clashed swords with Mizu as we pressed each other for a little bit.
The temperature around us was dropping, most likely an attempt from Mizu to try an accomplish some attack, but I wouldn't fall for it. I flexed every muscle that I could as I began pushing Mizu down towards the ground and let the flames from my legs consume me entirely. Mizu struggled under my new strength and attempted to shoot out needles out ice at me from his mouth, but the needles would melt upon reaching my intense flame. Mizu himself was beginning to sweat as I pushed down harder.
I stumbled forward as Mizu collapsed into a puddle of water and quickly sloshed away from me to the side, sloppily reforming away from me, his figure seeming to be melting in random places, but eventually becoming solid. My sword was stuck in the ground, as it had penetrated the ground instead of Mizu, deeply and would have been too much of a hassle to get out so I left it there for the time being. The sword would reset itself shortly to its case in my room anyways.
I raised my head up to Mizu who was panting and still sweating.
"Hot..." He said as he caught his breath.
"Done already?" I taunted.
He held his left hand up at me and raised his right hand above his head, a giant spear made out of ice forms in it. Mizu grunted as he chucked the 7' long spear at me.
I sidestepped to the left and easily dodged the giant spear. Mizu smiled. I immediately knew something was wrong.
I turned around as fast as I could, but it was too late. With a sound like shattering glass, the ice spear had exploded into a thousand small needles of ice that, in turn, all directed and launched themselves at me. I was able to raise my arms over my eyes, but was still overwhelmed by the wave of ice needles, each needle piercing drew small amounts of blood from me and bled through my clothes slightly.
I struggled to turn around to face Mizu, but when I did, I was greeted by a wall of pressurized water, which only pushed the needles in deeper and made me yell out in pain, unable to be heard through the forming sphere of water.
Did Mizu really get me?... How could I be taken so easily?...
I pushed away such thoughts and remembered who I was: Shizuo Akiro. I don't give up and I certainly don't lose to any friends of mine.
I swallowed a mouthful of water after letting out my yell of pain, my body began glowing white, Think of something that lives in the water...
The first thing that came to mind was a good one, luckily. I remembered my fascination with dinosaurs when I was little and the first marine animal to pop up in my head was a plesiosaur.
In a flash of white, I shot out of the water as a 30-foot long reptile with 12 feet of it being my long neck. My power of fire stays in effect even when I shapeshift, so that's a plus.
I towered over the horrified expression of Mizu as I spewed out a column of white flame point blank onto him. An explosion was set off like a bomb and filled the surrounding area with a black smoke, the explosion was nothing like earlier though.
When the smoke cleared, I stood as a human over Mizu, who sat in the midst of the now-broken tile floor. Mizu's hair was a sooty mess, as was he. He was unconscious as his left pant leg and right shoulder were burning under small flames. I held open my right palm and the small fires absorbed into it.
Mizu showed no signs of waking up any time soon so I kneeled down besides him and wrapped his arm around my neck to support him as I stood up.
Keita unfolded, literally, from thin air, a form of teleportation exclusive to him, and looked directly at me.
"Congratulations," he said straightforwardly as he knelt on the ground and pressed his right hand against the ice-covered floor of the Arena. He closed his eyes and shot a single wave of powerful electricity through the entire frozen floor as caused the ice to shatter.
Keita stood up and took Mizu's other side, wrapping his arm his waist to support him as well.
"I will help you take Mizu to hospital wing, it's quicker this way," Keita stated.
I grinned at him, beginning to walk, "Thank you for being so considerate, Keita, but... Where'd you leave Riku?"
"Riku is sleeping. Well, he was when I left, at least. He wanted to rest up before going to Arcadia tonight for dinner." Keita informed me.
I pushed open the door for Keita and I. The two of us made our way down to the nearby hospital wing to get Mizu fixed up.
