Author Update: Still alive!

Hey All, hope you guys enjoyed the last chapter, I know it was looong overdue. I'm surprised at how many new readers are joining us recently and that's in part a reason why I am extra glad to return to you all.

So apparently it's been a year and a half since I last posted a chapter and it is my fault for not at least letting you guys know the reason for my absence. Don't worry though, everything's alright, great actually!

In May of 2018, I swore into the United States Navy, a decision that was long dwelled upon prior to its completion. For the next 5 months, I was put through boot camp and two schools, after which I visited home for two weeks and settled down at my command. Since then, I've enjoyed my time here and have met some great people that I know I would have never been able to back home. My work is relatively tame compared to the rest of the military, to which I'm grateful for, but my free time has been consumed with other things (*hint hint Semi-recently turning 21 might have a little part in it).

All in all, everything's been pretty "smooth sailing" you could say!

So what's next, you ask? Well, I wouldn't exactly call my extended leave a hiatus, but more of an unintended break. It had been hard for me to sit down and write, but recently, I've had a renewal of creativity, inspiration, and passion for the GATE Academy we've all come to love (I hope) and am recommitted to returning to finish out this first book. There is still so much I want and need to get in here!

While I can't promise any publishing schedules (When have I ever? Lol), I will do my best to publish new chapters within reasonable time frames. I know I've mentioned this in the past, but keep an eye out for the "supplementary text" to this story, "GATE Origins." There are tons of little side stories and character bios I have that are waiting to be put out that I hope will continue to entertain you all in between the main chapters.

So, you may have noticed the subpar drawing at the start of the chapter. Part of my reinvigorated inspiration for returning to writing has been my discovery of how fun doing digital art is. I've dabbled with it in the past, but had yet to get a grasp on it to the degree I do now. That being said, I'm likely going to go back and redo pictures of chapters that I think could use it. Having to find and using art I've found online worked, and still does, but now that I somewhat have the ability to recreate scenes and depict characters how I would like to, I don't see why I shouldn't let you all in on it too! Yes, the art is subpar, but I consider it a sort of necessary practice that keeps me busy and engaged with this story.

Last order of business is one that has bugged me for quite a while. There are a lot of inconsistencies in this story and scenes that I think could have been done better. I have plans to go back and redo/fix these as so that the story reads smoother overall. I think we can all agree that we have some past writings we aren't too proud of and wish we could do redo!

You might have already seen it, but you may be receiving notifications of older chapters being republished due to updated content and/or revision. I'd recommended giving the chapter an extra look through if you'd like just to see if you can catch the change, but that's entirely up to you!

A small note to add would be that the Kik RP group, previously mentioned in the last update, was recently taken down. I don't think there were many people from this platform that joined it, but it is what it is. I also won't be using Kik anymore, so the best way to reach me now would be through any other media.
