Chapter 39: The First Session

"Shall we begin?"

"You first, Kaiser."

I grinned as the ex-Demon King sneered at my taunting reply. It was odd to see that he was dressed like a normal human for once, sporting a black, sleeveless compression shirt and a pair of black gym shorts with black compression pants under. Still not everyday attire, but it was definitely different than his normal, knightly armor.

"I already told you before, but I won't hold back this time. Our last battle I had intentionally lost to escape the Bukai, but now, in this training room hidden from them, I can fight unrestricted."

The Headmaster had transported Kaiser and me to a wasteland of endless expanse. The floor was dirt with large patches of grass here and there as the topography consisted of small, dispersed plateaus that weren't all-too far away from each other. This place didn't seem like anywhere on Earth, so I assumed that the Headmaster had sent us to a different realm/room that he had created. Additionally, he had told me before entering the room that I would be training in different environments with Kaiser, leading me to believe that he had control of the ecosystems in which we are placed.

"Yeah yeah, I know, you told me this already," I said, holding my hands up in a defensive position.

Kaiser "Hm"-ed and straightened up, cracking his neck.

"If only you knew your place..."

As soon as Kaiser had finished his words, he Folded in front of me and hammered his fist down, aiming for my head. I was able to cross my arms above my head and block his fist, but the force of his blow nearly shattered my arms and made my knees give in, leaving me to fall down and kneel.

I painfully held my arms up and felt as if one more hit would crack the bones in my arms. My eyes had involuntarily teared and my heart pounded forcefully. I looked up at Kaiser and was starting to fill with rage. Suddenly I just wanted to kill, no, just hurt incredibly, him for hurting me. I could feel the air around me getting warmer.

I looked up at Kaiser with eyes of burning tears, "Don't think you can get away with this!!"

In a burst of Flash Fire, I jumped up and uppercutted Kaiser in the chin, lifting him up off of the ground. With my other hand, I punched diagonally down square into his jaw. As Kaiser descended, I didn't stop and brought down the elbow of the uppercutting hand into the side of his face that I had punched.

Kaiser landed in a low crouch with his head hung down and left hand held down for support.

"Is this the extent of your power?..." Kaiser spoke lowly beneath his head of silver hair.

I stepped back returned to my defensive position, the Flash Fire still ignited.

"Not even close!!"

I leapt forward and brought my right leg to the left and around in a clockwise path to bring it down into an axe kick on Kaiser's back, but he quickly Folded right before my leg could make contact. My foot slammed through the rocky earth and cracked the surrounding area.

Kaiser appeared in front of me with a sadistic grin on his face.

"I'm going to enjoy this more than I should..."

Kaiser raised his open palms up to chest level and a strong burst of wind lifted me straight off of the ground, holding me two feet above the ground. I tried to struggle out, but I had no aerial control without my wings. Kaiser closed his eyes, brought his right leg back, and raised his fists to his eyes.

"Ego sum qui nimbos ciet..."*
