"So," Joe started, "it's been a while. Tell me what's up?"
"Well, to start off, remember that guy that Asa was basically obsessed with in high school?"
He nodded. "Vince was his name, right?"
"Yeah. Well, they finally got together." I said, smiling to myself. I still remember the day that he asked her out on their first date by her locker. About a month or so after Joe left. That was near the time that I realized that I was pregnant with Mason.
Flashback*
"I think that you would look better with the leather jacket than the cardigan. I mean, you are going to a party. That's just my opinion." I stated as she switched her books by her locker. I had a free period today, so I didn't have to do anything right now. I could see Asa half roll her eyes.
"You're only thinking that because that's your style. You think anything that you would wear would look good on anyone."
"Not always. Some people just don't have the vibe for black stuff. Although, you do. I mean, come on. Cardigan says, 'Hi, I'm Asa and I'm pretty and cute,' and leather jacket says, 'What's up, dude? I'm Asa and I'm a badass.'" I explained, playing with the necklace Joe got me for my sixteenth birthday.
My heart literally ached for him. I missed him so much, but I haven't spoke to him since our first Skype call. He wouldn't answer, but I had to tell him about my baby. I've been meaning to tell him, but he just won't respond to me.
Asa scoffed slightly as she cleaned out her locker. "Your hormones are really getting to ya. You know that I wouldn't go for the leather jacket."
"Hello, ladies," I hear Vince's voice greet. Oh, great. Now it was my turn to roll my eyes. Which I did.
"What do you want Vince?" I asked as I turned around his way, although I could hear Asa's breathing hitch in her voice.
"Actually, not that you don't mind, I wanted to talk to Asa." He said, giving me a look that said, Please don't mess this up for me.
Some of his dark brown hair covered his left eye, which he pushed out of the way. I replied to him with a look that said, Okay, I'll back off for once. I walked slightly backwards next to Asa, holding the strands of my backpack.
"I don't mind. But whatever you can say to Asa, you can say to me, right?" I asked, crossing my arms and leaning on Asa. I could tell that she was still in shock that Vince was talking to her.
"Uh, I guess so. Anyways, Asa, I was wondering if you would like to go out on a date with me? Maybe we could catch a movie, or something." Vince said, smiling down at her. I smirked, nudging her on the ribs. She better fucking say yes or I swear-
"Yeah, sure." She said. I looked down at her, since I was taller than her to see her facial reaction. She seemed, surprised and intrigued. But most of all, happy.
"Great. I'll pick you up Friday at 6:00? Maybe a little bit later?" He asked, unsure.
"6:00 is great." Asa said, maybe a little too eagerly. I smiled and bit my lip, shaking my head.
"Great, see you then." He winked as he walked away. I saw Asa staring at him, and I rolled my eyes, laughing at her.
"Oh, my God." I said, half laughing, half grinning. I walked back in front of her. "See, I told you he was into you!" I exclaimed.
