"Joe!" I called out to him as I skipped stairs on the flights. I stopped in the middle and looked down below me saw a glimpse of his hair.
I speeded down the last flight of stairs and hit the concrete. I saw him speed walking away from me, so I sprinted towards him and grabbed the collar of his shirt.
Once I immediately made contact with him, he whipped around and I flinched backwards. "I have a son?" He half yelled at me.
"Yes," I said, not even a second later. "A month after you left was when I figured out that I was pregnant." I gulped, the night wind chilling me as it passed by. I covered my stomach with my arms and rubbed them as I stared at Joe, who was staring down somewhere at the ground. I took this chance to speak again.
"Trust me, I would've told you. But you had already completely vanished from my life back then." I said awkwardly. "I named him Mason because I always knew you wanted either a son named Mason or a daughter named Ava." I didn't what I was doing, but to him I'm pretty sure that he was thinking that I was trying to cheer him up.
"I know." He mumbled quietly. "We used protection."
"We did." I agreed. "It's obvious that it didn't work . ." I drifted off.
"Why didn't you try harder to contact me?"
Are you serious?
"Because what was the point? I tried my best; hell, I even got a YouTube and subscribed to you when I found out about you. I tried mailing you letters, following you on your social media, everything. I mean, I loved you!" I said, almost desperately.
He was silent.
"Past tense?"
"Past tense." I agreed, although it hurt to say it.
We were silent for a while, but I kept boring my eyes into his skull, mainly because I wanted him to know that I was staring at him. "Well?" I asked. "Isn't it pretty damn obvious that I like you? You have a son, and you're not going to say anything about it? I like you too much that-"
I would've finished my sentence, but he pressed his lips to mine. I closed my eyes and kissed back, because I admit, that was a sweet way of shutting me up.
This very moment reminded me of when he told me that he first liked me back in senior year. Back then, he was the desperate one, and I was the silent one. He was the one who was staring at me like how I was staring at him right now. I was the one who kissed him. And now he's the one kissing me.
I immediately felt that weird feeling in my stomach as he cupped my cheeks with his hands. I pulled away, sighing as I slowly opened my eyes, meeting his brilliant blue ones.
"What was that for?" I asked quietly as he removed one hand from my face, the other still cupping my cheek.
"I like you, too. For a while now." He kissed me again.

I looked at Joe one last time before I opened the door, silently asking if he was ready. He nodded at me, and I grabbed his hand, holding it tight.
I opened the front door and slowly walked in. I noticed that everyone was sitting in the living room, watching Friends. Everyone shifted their heads to us, and they saw our joined hands.
"Where's Mason?" I asked seriously.
"He's in his room." Wallis answered politely. She might be my new favorite person.
"C'mon." I mumbled to Joe as I pulled him to Mason's bedroom door. I knocked, but there was no response. "Mason, I'm coming in." I said, opening the door and walking in.

We walked into Mason's room, and I was quite satisfied at it. The walls were dark blue, and there were a bunch of Star Wars posters. There were also posters of basketball players. I'm pretty sure it said Dewayne Dedmon, Orlando Magic no. 3. Well, I've heard of that team but I did not know the guy.
Besides that, his room was pretty neat for an eight year old. He was on his bed, under the covers. I'm pretty sure that he was reading, mainly because there was a flashlight underneath the covers. Liana sat down at his feet.
She softly removed the covers from his head, revealing him reading a book with a flashlight. "I was just finishing my summer reading so I can get it out of the way." He said, his voice cracking. He saw my eyes, and then quickly looked away, crossing his arms dully. Despite the fact that he probably hated me right now, I thought what he did was pretty cute.
In front of me, Liana sighed. "Mason, I know that this is hard for you to take."
"It's not hard for me. I'm fine. I just hate him." He stated. He flickered his eyes to mine and then looked away. I could sense the intimidation when he said that, but he was trying to be manly, which I admired.
"You don't hate him." Liana stated.
"Hey, it's okay." I said to her, putting my hand on her shoulder. "I'll take care of it." I sat down next to her on the bed.
"I know that she's my mom. She said that you're my dad. So, does that mean that you love each other?"
I gave her a look, and she did the same. I mean, come on mate. You just figured out that I'm your father and that's the first thing you ask? "A very long time ago, we did. You were the result of our love." Liana said slowly.
"So you guys don't love each other?"
"Like I said, we did a long time ago, but not right now."
"Then what happened?"
"I -um. . . How do I explain this?" She mumbled to herself.
"I moved back to Britain after she was pregnant with you." I cleared up. "But I didn't know." I added quickly.
"Why didn't you tell him?" He asked Liana.
"It was hard back then. I, er, didn't get a lot of chances to get to talk to him back then." She stated weakly.
"Oh," Mason said quietly. He set his book aside. I realized that it was kind of big for a third year to read.
"That's quite a big book you're reading there." I stated, grabbing the book and examining it. Wonder. "What is this about?"
"It's about a boy who was born with a facial difference and he finally goes to a normal school. He wants nothing more than to treated like an ordinary kid. People get scared of him because apparently his faced is different than others because he was born with it. It's a really good book so far."
Man, my son is smart.
"That sounds pretty interesting. Are you reading anything else?"
"I'm reading this other book. It's in a series. The series is called, A Series of Unfortunate Events."
"Oh, I've heard of those before. Your mom loved those books back when we were your age."
"Yeah, apparently when I was in her stomach, she read me the books."
I smiled. Of course she would. I looked around and realized that Liana left the room and it was just us two. He spoke again.
"You know, just because I'm talking to you about this kind of stuff, doesn't mean that I like you."
I sighed. "I know."
It was silent for a couple of seconds. I was rating at his previous hands while I felt him staring at me. I didn't look up at him because I was thinking; thinking about everything in my life and how insanely big it just got.
"Why did you leave?" He asked suddenly. I didn't even get to answer that question because he kept talking. "Everyone of my classmates had parents and I only had one. Where were you this whole time? Did I disappoint you or something? Was I not special enough?"
