"You saw dad?" I asked Liana, who nodded.
"He fucking punched Joe." She mumbled. Joe and Tyler left an hour ago just when I came, and it was 12:41 A.M. When I passed Joe in the hallway, I knew that dad had something to do with with. I wasn't tired. Liana seemed drained, though.
"Of course he did, Liana. You knew how he acted when you told him that-"
"Yes, I know. You don't have to remind me." She interrupted, closing her eyes. I remember all of the horrible memories he created when Joe left.
Flashback*
"Ugh, I'm so tired, and I have a crap ton of homework. Then I have to do this community service thing for NJHS."
A/N: Bear in mind that Mara's around 13 or 14 in this flashback
"Well, that's what you get for being smart." Allison stated, dragging her lacrosse stick on the ground. I don't know why she was doing that, but we were both super tired from a lacrosse game. We won 5-2 against Montier Middle School, and I'm pretty sure everyone from there hated us now.
"I get it from my mom." I defended.
"I saw Matt looking at you the whole game," Allison changed the subject, smirking that annoying smirk that always seemed to calm me down at time. "He seemed totally into you."
I rolled my eyes. "He was probably into the game, not me." Matt Pieterse was the hot athletic guy that everyone at Kenmur Middle School wanted to date. Even me.
"He was staring at you, Mara. I even heard him shout, 'Let's go number 14!'" Allison grinned.
"Okay, so what? He called my number. No big deal." But it was a huge deal. To me.
We turned to a corner at the end of the block, and this is where Allison and I go out separate ways, since I turn right and she turns left.
"Whatever, Mara. Hey, can you send me History answers tonight? I could really use some help." She said, walking farther away from me, yet she was still facing me.
I smiled. "Okay, but you owe me next time."
"I'm pretty stupid, Mara. I wouldn't trust me if I were you." She smirked again, then she turned around. I smiled again and turned around too, my house just to my right hand side. I grabbed my keys from my keychain from my backpack and unlocked the front door, walking it. I automatically heard yelling.
"Dad, there's no point in calling him! He won't answer me!" I hear Liana's voice coming from upstairs. I then hear thundering footsteps down the stairs, and she crashed into me.
"What's happening?" I asked, but they ignored me as Dad followed her into the kitchen. He seemed ultimately pissed. I have no idea what is going on.
"He knocked you up, Liana! No boy can ever do that to you! Why did you let him?" Dad screamed. What? Knocked her up?
"He didn't knock me up, we love each other!" I followed them into the kitchen like a lost puppy, dropping my lacrosse bag near the doorframe. I still had my lacrosse stick in my hand, though.
"That's bullshit! He's ignoring you, Liana. He sure as hell can't ignore me."
"Dad-"
"Shut up!" He slapped her face. I flinched, suddenly getting scared. Dad was never like this. It was a new side that I have never seen of him before, and I didn't necessarily like it. Liana started to cry, and I ran over to her before anything else could happen between them. "You're so God damn stupid, you know that? Letting a boy screw your life over!" Dad said over my shoulders.
"Dad, you're acting crazy! Fucking get out of the house!" I screamed at him, my arms covering Liana's 18 year-old body. I could hear her starting to quietly sob. That was the first time I had ever cursed like that before. But I couldn't help it, it just came out of me.
"You don't fucking cuss at me, you little bitch!" He yelled straight back at me. He slapped my face, too, and the tears finally fell down my face.
"Don't slap me!" I yelled, shoving him away. "Mom!" I screamed for her as Dad started to raise his fist at me. I raised my lacrosse stick that was still in my hand and whacked him in the head as hard as I could.
He groaned and grabbed his head, backing a few steps. He gave me an angry look, and he was about to punch me again. "You little-"
"Logan! Get out of my house, now!" I hear from the entrance to the kitchen. Behind dad, I see Mom holding her pistol, which she only used at the gun range. I turned around and hugged Liana, shutting my eyes tightly into her jacket as I cried. Liana hugged me tight, and she sobbed into me. I then realized that I was shaking terribly.
"Ana, I-"
I hear her cock the pistol. I hugged Liana tighter, scared about what was about to go down.
"No one ever hurts my kids. Get out, NOW!" Mom screamed, her voice shaking. I hear footsteps slowly starting to walk away, and soon enough, the front door opened and shut.
"Mom!" I screamed into Liana's jacket. I don't know why I did that, but I didn't know what to do. I had never been so scared and helpless in my life.
"Oh, my God. Oh, my God." I hear Mom running towards us and wrapping us into a hug. We all started sobbing in this group hug. "Are any of you hurt?" She asks, cupping our faces separately with her hands.
"M-Mom, I'm pregnant." Liana whispered to her.
"I know, I know." She said softly. "I saw the test in the trash bin." Mom pulled her into a hug, and Liana cried again.
"I love you, Mom." I tried to stop crying, but I couldn't control myself.
"I love you, too. Both of you."

That was probably the worst day of my life. Ever since that traumatic experience, my life back then shut down. I stopped playing lacrosse and I graduated Kenmur Middle School without a NJHS chord around my neck. I didn't really start getting it together since the middle of freshman year of high school after Mason was born.
I had my first boyfriend in my sophomore year of high school, and no, it wasn't Matt. Although we remained as close friends. His name was Brian Trindad, and he was so perfect for me, it was completely crazy.
We met through Allison. He was her cousin, and we've never really met each other until then. A couple of months after we first met, we started to date.
We lasted until senior year, when he figured out that he got accepted to University of Miami and I was going to University of Central Florida. We knew that long distance wouldn't work for us, so we broke up.
I haven't talked to him for a while now, but we're friends on Facebook and we follow each other on Instagram. I'm pretty sure he's still single, but it's not like I cared. Okay, I cared a little.
But I cared big time for Caspar. His cute smile just made my heart melt instantly, it was insane. But he has a girlfriend, Emma. And I couldn't mess with that, even if I wanted to.
