A/N: trigger warning?

-

Work was basically a nightmare. In the Starbucks at the Millenia Mall, it's always crazy busy there, so my feet were sore from wearing fuzzy sandals for twelve hours. Ugh, so many Frapuccino's to make in so little time.

I drove home, almost about to crash into another car because I was about to fall asleep. I probably should've made a coffee before I closed up the shop.

The whole time I was at work I couldn't stop thinking about Joe. The fact that he cried for me about this nightmare that he had? Trust me, I felt happy that he felt this way about me. But there was one thing that I had to get off my chest with him.

Mason.

I was planning on telling him tomorrow around dinner. I would invite everyone over to the apartment, and Mara and I would make dinner (or just order Chinese delivery).

I needed to tell Joe. And that was that.

-

"You really going to do this?" Mara asked as she shifted in my bed.

"It's now or later. I would rather have it now than to keep waiting." I stated as I took off my glasses, rubbing my eyes. "What are we feeding, like, 8?"

"10 if you count Asa."

"Right, she'll probably bring Vince. So make that 11. Oh, God, that's so much money to spend."

"Why can't we just ask Mom to buy it for us?" She shrugged. I scolded her.

"Then what's the point of breaking off of her? We aren't going to ask for her to get us anything unless it's important." I said to her, although I could see her mocking me in front of me.

She yawned, standing up and stretching. "Whatever. Okay, well, I'm going to hit the bed. I have class tomorrow at 9:30 so I can't take care of Mason."

"It's okay, I have class around 3:00. You'll be back by then, right?"

"Yeah," she stated, walking slowly to the doorway. "I can take care of Mason then."

"All right, well, good night."

"Are you really ready to tell him?"

"No," I admitted. "I'm not sure how he will react. I'm pretty scared to tell Mason, actually. You know how he feels about his father."

"Don't be scared. It's just Joe." She lightly smiled at me, and I returned the favor.

"Get out of here, you little whore." I threw my pillow at her, hitting her square on the butt. She laughed.

"Okay, okay," she said, leaving my bedroom door. "I'm actually not a whore, by the way."

"I know, I was just fucking with ya'." I stated. She rolled her eyes and shut the door. I smiled.

-

"Hi!" I hear Mara greet happily at the front door. I brace myself, knowing that it's the group. I make sure everything is set up: the table, the plates, and Mason, who was sitting at the couch playing on his iPod.

I look over to the front door to see literally everyone. They all look very tired, and I silently punished myself for even doing this in the first place. This is for Joe and Mason, I told myself.

"Is there a special reason why you invited us over for dinner?" I hear Oli ask. "We were just planning to eat at a Subway or something."

"Trust me, you want to be here." Mara mumbled to him. "Plus, we spent a freaking fortune on this food so you better eat it all." I saw him gave her a look and I forced myself to look away.

I was talking to Wallis when I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist and pick me up from the ground behind me. I screeched and turned around as the arms let me down to the ground, seeing Caspar laughing. I slapped his arm.

"Not. Funny." I tried to say in my serious voice, but ended up laughing along with him.

"Um, Caspar, you have a girlfriend, remember?" Wallis reminded him. I looked down awkwardly.

"Why does everyone keep saying that?" He almost yelled. Wallis laughed as Caspar walked away, and I snorted.

"So, he has a girlfriend?" I asked casually.

"Yeah, she's a beauty. Her name's Emma."

Of course.

It wasn't that long after till we all gathered at the table to eat. We were now all sitting, eating our food in silence as the radio lightly played in the background.

Liana cleared her throat. "Um, everyone, I would like to say something." She said, and I could tell her voice was wobbly. I looked up at her, dropping my fork on the plate. All eyes were on her.

Everyone stopped eating and stared up at me, which made me feel even more nervous. All I could focus on was Joe, who was looking at me concerned.

"This has been very hard for me to say, especially to you guys. Um, this dinner is basically the reason why invited everyone over." Even Mason was looking up at me concerned.

"What I'm about to say directs to Joe. And Mason." I stuttered, my gut hurting every word I spoke aloud. Joe was now fully looking at me. "Joe and Mason, I know what I'm about to say will sound one hundred percent crazy, but trust me, it's true." I said, taking a deep breath. Next to me, Mason took my hand, and I smiled lightly.

"Joseph Sugg is the father of Mason."

Mason was quick to react. He jerked his hand away from me. "What? Joseph? You mean, that guy? Right there?!" He yelled, standing up.

I look at Joe, who had looked down. He was staring at the Chinese food container at the center of the table. In one swift motion he stood up from the table and stormed out of the apartment. I didn't know where he could possibly go, considering the fact that he didn't drive here. Tears started to form in my eyes as I started to shake even more.

I looked around, everyone staring at me in shock except for Asa, Vince, Mara, and Caspar. Wait, Caspar's not in shock?!

In my head, I thought the following:

What was I thinking? Waiting seven years to tell Joe that he has a son? Why did it have to be this way? Everyone was staring at me like I was a disgrace to them.

More tears fell out.

What is wrong with me?

Without thinking, I stormed out of apartment, following Joe's footsteps. Literally.

"Mom!"
