Los Angeles, 7 pm
I had to drive back to Los Angeles because I was recently invited to a writer's party that the New York Times was hosting. I was looking forward to Justin coming with me, but he has a ton more concerts to perform.
- later -
I was a little nervous about going to the party alone. I looked around at everyone here. I didn't know anyone. I was about to head to the bathroom when Shelby came up to me."Hey Kacey, I didn't know you were a writer at the New York Times." She said.
"Yeah, I am." I replied. "Now can I please go to the bathroom?" But she didn't budge. She just kept talking and took me over to the table she was sitting at. "So, how did you manage to get a job here?"
"Well, actually it was a surprise. I remember when Justin came home and surprised me with the job. I worked at another newspaper before, but I had to get away from it unfortunately." I explained.
I looked at the angry expression on her face, then it changed. "Oh. That's, um, wonderful!" She smiled, but I could tell it was a fake one. "Have you interviewed anyone?"
"No, not yet." I replied.
"Oh. I remember my first interview. It was the best moment of my life." She bragged. "It's just an interview. How can it be the best moment of your life?" I asked.
"Because I got to spend it with Justin." She smirked. This girl really wants to make me jealous, does she?
"Okay?" I questioned. I didn't necessarily care if she got to interview him. I can tell she wants to compete with me. "I bet he likes me more than you, though." I heard her mumble. I heard it, but just shrugged it off.
__at the end of the party__
I was heading out the door when Shelby, once again stopped me. "Hey Kacey. I have to tell you something." She said. I turned around to hear what she had to say. She got up in my face and said, "Whenever you and Justin break up, he's mine. And there's nothing you can do about it. That's your warning." Then she left.
I knew this girl had a secret. She likes Justin, and I knew that all along! And I'm going to find a way to stop her.
