"Flight 815 to New York boarding in half an hour."
I looked around, screens of arrival and departure times one every corner. I took my two suitcases, since mom had already send the rest of my stuff to New York, walking towards my flights line.
I looked everywhere. There were mixtures of tired and excited faces all around me. Some looked like they ran out of coffee this morning while others looked like children waiting for Santa.
The airport looked like a shopping mall. The tiles under my shoes gleamed white and people could be seen walking around with bags in their hands looking like they had just went on a shopping spree.
"Excuse me. I'll need your flight ticket please." A voice spoke snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Oh yeah here you go." I said handing the lady the boarding tickets as I walked towards the plane.
I tried not to think much about the flight. It had always scared me that there would come a day where I would have to jump in a plane and take a ride by myself and yet here I am surprisingly not freaking out walking into a plane...by myself.
I placed my two suitcases inside one of those shelves each seat had above them, before sitting down on the seat neat the window. I had always found it fascinating how everything looked so small and how even what seems like nothing or went so unnoticed could be something so beautiful. The sun, the clouds, it was just a marvelous thing to presence. So I specifically requested mom to buy me the window seat and thankfully she did.
I then saw as people filled in the rest of the seat. Every time I got into a plane I would have my brother by my side. This time everything was different.
As soon as the plane took off, a young lady with blue pencil skirt and a simple white blouse could be seen giving out food. I've always hated the food they gave out. It could easily be resembled to hospital food. Yet considering it's 1:30 and I haven't eaten anything at all since I woke up, I might as well try it out. It couldn't be that bad, would it?
The young lady now stood by my row placing a small tray onto my table. "Thank you." I said and carefully peeled of the aluminum foil that covered my meal to keep it nice and warm. As I took it off I couldn't help but gasp as I saw what stood in front of my eyes. A piece of chewy meat contained in a small plastic cup. It was covered by a neon cheese that looked like plastic, with a side of brown and green vegetables. What was I supposed to do now? Eat it all?
I looked at my neighbor's tray. He had chosen the first option, which happened to be a delicious looking pasta covered by a simple sauce and a bit of parmesan.
I felt my stomach growl and to my surprise my neighbor turned to me and said.
"Is this plane food disgusting or what? I'll trade you." He said smiling at me hope in his eyes.
I couldn't help but laugh. I didn't know if he was joking because his pasta actually seemed really good or he noticed my face when I opened my meal and just wanted to be nice. I didn't hesitate and shook my head smiling at him handing him my chewy meat.
"I'm Liam." He said extending his hand with a big smile.
"Emma. It's nice to meet you Liam." I said taking his hand and shaking it lightly. I took my fork stabbing it in my new delicious meal before sticking it in my mouth.
"Mmm." I said tasting the tasty food that was now in my mouth.
"Good huh?" I just nodded my head smiling thankfully. I think I would have died poisoned by the food that was now being devoured by my neighbor.
