I looked up into the blank ceiling. What was I supposed to think at a moment like this? All this thoughts wandering through my head are scrambled up, making it unclear to me on what my actions should be.
However I was sure of one thing. Whatever the hell was going on, I was determined to find out. The events from yesterday stuck in my head like glue. Everything was working out perfectly, until everything suddenly didn't. Like if with the snap of my fingers everything around me would suddenly be altered, as if in a blink of an eye.
It's been almost a month since I started dating Ethan. A couple of nights ago I asked him if he would like to go with me to Georgia to see my family for Thanksgiving. Obviously he being the idiot he is, got all excited because he was finally going to meet the rest of my family, which he thinks is a big step in our relationship.
Anyways, we were leaving today and because he was going to me missing work for a couple of days he had to work really hard this last few days he was still in New York. He had a bunch of stuff to do at work and he needed someone to babysit Sam, Ethan's little bother since his parent's didn't really care. So I've been babysitting a seven-year-old kid for about three days now, which hasn't really been any trouble at all. I would always be up for eating ice cream and walking around the park by day and watching Disney movie marathons by night. Everything was fine until we were left with a broken window, a clock, and then left a door without a handle and finally a framed photo that was hanging on the wall. However as Sammy left as we were left to pick up the broken pieces, my day only got a lot worse.
Mr. Strain was surely aware that I was bringing my boyfriend's brother to work and he had no problem with it unless it wouldn't distract me in any way from work. I've had a couple of meetings with him this couple of weeks because the company had a definite date for the fundraiser and he needed my help with some things. In order to be one hundred perfect concentrated on the meeting I needed someone to look out for Sammy, and since Scarlett was not an option due to her being sick this week, then Louis had to take her place.
Unfortunately Louis had a meeting with Liam today at the same time I had my meeting with Mr. Strain which only meant that I had no other choice that to bring Sammy with me. Sammy wasn't a bother in any way; in fact I loved the kid with all my heart. He was like the little brother I never had. I had always loved children and the hours I spend taking care of Sam would be filled with laughter and fun.
Unlike his brother, Sam's hair was more gold than brownish. Ethan's hair was a light brown. His cheeks were always tainted with a pinkish color and his eyes were exactly like Ethan's, a deep exquisite blue.
So as I was saying today I had a meeting with Julian and Sam had to assist. It was going perfectly great until he had a call and had to go. He told me to finish filling out the list of people that were going to attend the party, leave the paper with the names on top of his desk and then I could go back to my office.
Of course I immediately started working. There was no time to waste. The fundraiser was in less than three months and everything had to come out flawless. However it seemed like Sammy had other things in mind for our evening.
"Hey Emma are you going to take long?"
"I promise it will just be a sec Sammy, then we can have all the fun you want."
"Yey! You always keep your promises. Mommy used to promise a lot of things but she never kept them like you do Emma."
By the time I've known Sam I learned that for his age he is a really smart kid, but I've also noticed he tends to bring up his mother very frequently. I asked Ethan about it but he said it was totally okay. Although Ethan wasn't okay with what her mother turned into once she had divorced from his father, Ethan believed that it was okay for Sam to talk about his mother and that I should never stop him.
