I woke up at midnight to a bang. It had been two weeks since Jaxon had been released. I had a jury date for tomorrow and I was dreading it. Was Jaxon never coming back for me? The bang was followed by a several more. I rolled over away from the cell, it was the last sound I wanted to hear. The gun shots stopped, there was no one else here anymore. My previous death row buddy just died. I would be the next to leave. My minds thoughts went back to the thoughts that brought me to tears. He's never coming back, he's left to Arizona, he let Maddy turn me in and he's running and leaving Me for dead. He never loved me. The tears rolled down my face. Gaurds came down the hallway and one was shaking.
They are going to fire me... I shot early... What am I going to do?
That'd what the early bang was. Poor guy. They left and I laid on my bed, completely alone. The first night in years if not my life, I was completely alone. After time I fell asleep again I didn't have energy anymore. I hadn't had blood with the exception of stake in three weeks. I wasn't sure how I was alive. Sleep came very easy. Nightmares plagued me, as they did every night. Always the same one, guilty, Jacob sent away, death room, no heartbeat, vampire, mass shooting, bleeding everywhere, licking the blood off the walls, captured, bound and tortured. Then I awoke. Same spot every time.this one was a little different though. Jaxons voice kept telling me that I should wake up too reality. I rolled over and starred out the window. I met a pair of eyes staring back at me.
"Shhh."
I rolled off my bed and casually walks dover to the window and pretended to stare outside.
You came back for me!!!
I promised I would.
How are you getting me out?
I have my ways. Now listen, your door is going to open in four minutes. Run lightning speed out the door to the end. A girl will guide you from there.
But I have no energy, no blood.
Take this, Its invisible so drink.
I slowly rubbed my hand across the window seal and pulled it to my side. I watched him drop from the window. I walked back over to the bed and layer down on my stomach and drank til it was gone. As predicted my cell door opened. I stared at it blankly and looked at the camera. Running I ran out the cell and down to the door. It opened and a girl stood in front of me.
"Nice to meet you Katie. I'm Sophie." The alarms started to go off.
"If I were you I'd follow me and run."
I didn't hesitate I ran after her and trusted her judgment. Gates started to close and everything went into lockdown. I ran as fast as I could and we escaped the death block. She slowed and started to look around confused.
"What's wrong? Why are we stopping?"
"Jaxon was supposed to meet us here." The hint of panic wavered in her voice. She turned around searching and I heard heavy footsteps running towards us. Within seconds I saw a groups of gaurds in heavy protection and firearms in their hands.
"Sophie!"
"Jaxon!"
Jaxon ran around the corner and grabbed our hands and pulled us along. His hand in mine comforted me, but the comfort didn't last because the gaurds started to fire. The gunshots rang in the air. I felt a sting in my shoulder. I was shot but I kept running as fast as I could. One hit sophie and she screamed in agony a moment later one hit Jaxon in the back. I noticed then that the bullets weren't normal. The were painted bright red and looked more technical. GPS. It has too be I sped up and reached his back. We were out of firing range and approaching the fence. Guards lined the fence. Jaxon and sophie stopped abruptly.
"Come in Maddy, pull through." Jaxon whispered. The gaurds started slowly approaching us.
"Come in Maddy!" He spoke louder.
The gaurds following behind us rounded the corner and started approaching us from behind.
"Maddy!" Jaxon screamed. The gaurds were almost on us. Suddenly a car came barreling out of nowhere with Jaxons car close behind. The drivers seat door opened and someone jumped out of it. It ran right into the fence and broke through the first and then through the second. Jaxon started running to the gate. Shots rang in the air and I felt bullets attacking me from everywhere. I saw many hit Jaxon and sophie. Some looked like average bullets and some were the red GPS bullets. More and more hit my flesh and blood started to seep from every pore. I cried in agnony. The body that had fallen out of the drivers seat was motioning us to them and screaming at us too hurry. Glass shattered glads and bullets attacked our getaway car. We hopped in and it started to drive away. I looked back and the guns still firing and the gaurds hoping in cruisers too follow us. Sophie leaned over and started to cry in agony. I knew the could follow us if I didn't pull the bullets out.
"Slow the car and hit the freeway!"
"Are you crazy?" The driver yelled at me. "There is no way I'm slowing this car down til we get to the airport and I'm running inside."
"The red bullets are Gps. They are tracking us. Let them think they are gaining on us. We have enough time to pull the bullets out and hit an off road. We can dump them in a bush and ditch. They will search for hours trying to find them and realize we are gone. We can be long gone by then."
"Are you serious?!" Maddy screamed at me. Tension was higher than ever in that car. I started pulling the bullets out of sophie I crushed a red one and showed it to Jaxon.
"Its the best plan we got. These are definitely Gps. Ow!" He dropped the bullet and his fingers shook. "It has garlic on them! That's why it hurts so much." I realized then I could start to feel a little sting. But the garlic didn't effect me as much. I started to quickly work on sophie. I found a tissue box and started pulling them out of sophie and sticking it in the box. I counted 22 on her. After her I starter to work on Jaxon. We had hit the freeway by then.
"Where too Katie?"
"Exit off on exit 225. I will guide you from there." I finished his and counted thirty. Jaxon started to remove them from my back. He finished as our driver pulled off the road. I started to guide him to an old trail for an abondend mine. We left the car and ran to the mine. I threw the box inside and watched it sink to the bottom of the now submurged coal mine. Running away we ran all the way to the local town. We stole some clothes and accessories and changed quickly. I ran to the airport and arrived safely. We changed to look like and Asian touring group with our powers, cloaking others too. We managed to board the plane and take off. Everyone started to relax. But I had that knot in my stomach. Something bad is going to happen. They are going to catch us there has to be a bullet left on one of us. They are going to catch us. My mind kept racing and I became cautious of everything. Jaxons hand entwined with mine and he kissed my forehead.
"Calm dear, we are going to be fine." I tried to relax and curl into him but that sinking feeling remained. We were going to be caught and I knew it.
