The one night alone

The Guilty

"Recess over" I sat back down in my seat. Jaxons hand in mine and I think I might have broken some fingers I'm squeezing so hard.

From that moment on it was a blur. There were accusations, arguments, testimonies, and lots of words I don't understand.

It was so long and so very boring. Can't they just decide now? "I call Katie dannet back to the podium". Again?!? Seriously?!? What more do they want? I stood up and walked to the front.

I sat down and looked a Jaxon. Time to mind thought. What's going on? He gave me a look of omg. He's going to ask you about the kidnappings... Ohh. We've moved onto that already? Hmm. OK I may have been out a while.

~~~ three hours later ~~~
The jury is walking in. Oh boy this is it. They all sat down. Fingers crossed, please be guilty, please be guilty.

"In the case of Zach Taylor the jury presumes him as... Guilty." I screamed with joy! I hugged a confused Jaxon and turned to face Zack. Looking around I realized everyone was staring at me.

"Mrs. Dannet please sit. We haven't heard the entire jury verdict." I looked at the judge. My face beet red. "Sorry" I mumbled sitting. Zacck shooting daggers at the side of my head.

"As I was saying, we find Mr. Zack Taylor guilty of imposement, and as such shall be sentanced to twenty months in prison." Imposement? Imposement? Is that it? 20 months? No! He could still get Jacob. I turned to Jaxon who must have been thinking the same thing. We dealt with the lawyer and left.

I sat in the car driving home staring out the window. "What are you thinking about?" Jaxon asked glancing at me. I shrugged my shoulders continuing to look outside and watch his reflection. He grunted and continued to drive.

We pulled into his garage and went inside. We remained quiet the rest of the evening.

I got ready for bed and played down. I attempted to burry my face in my pillow to hide the sobs and tears. But he knows me to well. I felt the bed deepen and his arms wrap around me. He pulled me onto his lap.

I buried my head in his chest and he rocked me back and forth. He kept hushing me. Eventually sleep took over and I was out.

~one week later~
Ring, ring, ring, my phone was going off. I was in the middle of baking so I quickly wiped my hands on my apron and ran over.

"Hello?" I held my phone in between my shoulder and ear.
"Katie Dannet?" A women's voice said
"This is she, who is speaking?"
"This is Ann from child protection service's. Can I have a moment?" Interest peaked. Court case wasn't til next to week, why were they calling?

"Sure! How can I help you?"
"Well I have some news. Can you come into our office today? Say around 2 o-clock?" I walked over to the calander. No wedding planning today so unless Jaxon is surprising me with something...
"Sounds good! I'll see you then."
"Alright thanks hun! Ba-bye"
"Bye."

I hung up and turned around running smack into Jaxon.
"Excuse you." I playfully slapped his chest. Then sneaked past him.
"Who were you talking to?" I continued to roll out the dough for our cinnamon rolls.
"Ann from child protection services. She wants to meet us at 2." I rolled the last roll and set it on the tray.

Suddenly he vamped over to me and grabbed my hips. It startled me. He kissed my cheek and buried his head into my neck. "Hmm." He said into my neck.

"Let go of me, so I can put our breakfast in the oven. Its almost 12 that gives us two hours to drive over there." He wrapped his hands completely around me. "No. I'm tired." I giggled and hit him on the head with the Pam can.

"Ow!" I laughed again and walked over to put the rolls in the oven. "You slept 6 hours. You shouldn't be tired." He stood there with his arms crossed. I walked over and stood on my tip toes to kiss him. He immediatly put his hands back on my hips and deepened the kiss.

"How is the future Mrs. Carter?" Hmm its weird to hear that.. I never hear him say his last name. I like it though. Katie Carter. Makes me smile.
"I'll take that smile as good. Are you excited for next week?" Graduation Friday! Than one more week til the wedding!
"I'm so excited! I can't believe its so close!"
"Our wedding too!" He smirked and kissed me again.

I swear we made out for an hour but it would have been longer if the oven hadn't beeped telling us breakfast was almost ready. I pulled out and walked over the the oven. He tried to follow me. Slipping on my oven mitts and popping my butt out so he wouldn't get close I pulled out the rolls and set them on the counter.

He tried to kiss me but I dodged it. "Hey!" I laughed and pushed him out of the kitchen. "Go get dressed and showered. Breakfast will be ready then." I gave me a look. I kissed him one more time the hit his butt and sent him on his way. "I love you!" He said peering over the edge of the stairs. "I love you too." I said laughing and shaking my head. That boy will be the death of me.

Breakfast was over and I was almost done getting dressed. When Jaxon knocked on the closet door. "Ready to go?" He asked opening the door. I gave him a glare. I popped in my earnings and nodded in approval of my outfit. "Ready." He put his hand out and I took it. We hopped in the car and drove to the agency.

Sitting at the table in a conference room Jaxon and I were talking waiting for Ann to come in. The door opened and we turned to watch a very skinny grandmother walk in. We stood and shook her hand.
"Hello I'm ann!"
"Hello, I'm Katie and this is my Husband to be Jaxon."
"Hello, well I guess you are wondering why you are here. Well I have bad news and good news. Bad news the court date has been canceled." My eyes popped out of their sockets. What? No!
"But here's the good news. You both have been approved to be Jacobs guardians."
