"I can't believe that your parents are letting you throw a giant party while they take your brothers trick or treating!"

"It took some convincing." I said turning to my best friend Bella. Well it really wasn't convincing, it was more like hours of extra chores, good grades, and lots of babysitting my two brothers for them to even consider it. Even with all of my hard work it still would have been likely they would have said no. I just didn't want her to know the pressure this party had on me.

"Well I'm glad you invited me to help you decorate, this house needs a lot of help if its going to be spooktacular for the party tonight." Bella said wiggling her eyebrows. "What are you going as?"

My eyes opened wide and I froze as panic overcame me. "Oh shit! Bella! I don't have a costume yet!! What am I going to do?"

"We will have to go get one! Duh!" Bella said rolling her eyes. Digging in her obviously too full purse she managed to pull out her keys. "Come on I think the Halloween store is still open, I'll drive."  I quickly threw on some shoes and a jacket and followed her to her car.

As we drove down the street with a few trick or treaters here and there, I couldn't help but wonder if Bella, knowing how forgetful I am, asked me about my costume on purpose. She knows me better than anyone.

We pulled into the parking lot and let out a sigh of relief when we saw the open sign still flickering. As we got out of the car Bella gave me a devilish grin.

"So Katie what are you going as? You don't want to be too slutty, Jaxon is going to be there. Or who knows maybe you do!" She smirked at me and walked away before I could answer. As much as I love her she drives me crazy. She knows how much I like Jaxon. Just hearing his name made me blush. Not only was he the hottest guy in school, he was also the hottest guy in school who liked me. Well at least I think he does. But he told me personally he was coming! That's a sign right? Great now I actually am blushing. Pull yourself together.

"Katie! Snap out of it! We don't have time!" Bella yelled at me from the entrance of the store, snapping me out of a trance. I quickly ran to catch up to her.

We walked in the door and heard the bell chime signaling our arrival. An employee who didn't seem to be happy they were there said a quick greeting before returning to their phone.
"Come on the teen section is over here" Bella grabbed my arm and yanked me to the left side of the store.

"There's a princess costume, vampire, nurse, little red riding hood, witch, zombie, bumblebee...." Bella rattled on and on about all the costumes she was looking at as I was looking down the other aisle. I picked up a more revealing fairy costume trying to decide if this would work. But it might have been too pink. I felt a tap on my shoulder.

I turned around to see a different employee staring at me. "Excuse me, but are you Katie Dannet?"

I stared at him searching my brain to see if I somehow knew him while slowly nodding my head. Bella came around the corner with a costume in hand. She looked him up and down and glanced at me. Before I could say anything he gestured for me to follow. "Come with me your costume is in the back."

Curious if Bella had somehow picked a costume out for me ahead of time, I looked back at her. I saw the confused look in her eyes and the package in her hands. Clearly whatever this costume in the back was, she hadn't picked it out for me. We followed the employee into the back and I decided I had never seen him before.

We entered the deserted dressing room cautiously. The mysterious employee stopped at the only closed dressing room and opened the curtain. I felt the air leave my body as I froze in awe. There in front of us was the most gorgeous black dress I had ever seen.

"The alterations and added pieces were finished this morning upon your request. We almost thought you weren't coming due to how close we are to closing. I'm glad you showed up, this dress would have been wasted. Your private room is back there" He pointed back the way we came. To another closed curtain with a sign that said employees only. "Your shoes and accessories are already waiting for you in there."

"You must have a mistake" I said admiring the gorgeous dress in my arms. "I didn't order this or have anything custom made. I just remembered a costume today."

The boy, who's name read Mo on the name tag, reached in his pocket and pulled out a piece of paper. "Is this you?" Then handed me a picture of myself with a note attached.

"5'4, red head, size 6 &1/2 shoe, size four dress. Will be picked up on Halloween around 6 o-clock" I gasped, this is all my measurements and the time I would be here. Though it's now just seven. My picture was the one of my last family pictures.

"How did you get this?" I asked him

He shrugged his shoulder. "I do not know, I'm sorry, but please try it on" he gestured to the room.

I looked at Bella with a look of confusion and went into the dressing room. I put the dress on with a pair of black flats, and a sliver mask and the looked in the mirror. "It looks amazing! And It fits perfectly!" I walked out of the dressing room to where Bella was standing. She looked up from the picture the employee gave me and her face grew in more shock.

"Katie! You have never looked more beautiful! I am so jealous." I turned back to the mirror and admired myself. As weird as this was it really did fit perfectly. Just then the employee rounded the corner holding a little red box.

"And your necklace." He said handing me the box. I opened it to find a blood red gemstone with diamonds surrounding it on a silver chain. I looked at Bella In shock.

"Put it on!" She shrieked. I quickly put it on and looked in the mirror.

Before I could say anything the employee went on with business. "It looks like everything fits. Let me grab you a bag and you can be on your way."

I quickly took the dress off, placing it carefully in the bag. I returned the shoes and necklace to the boxes they came in. I grabbed everything and looked in my wallet. There was no way I could afford any of this. We walked to the front of the store. The employee gave me a bag and started escorting us out, clearly wanting to close.

"Wait don't we have to pay?" I said surprised as he walked past the registers.

"Everything has been payed for." He said opening the door and ushering is out.

"But I never payed..."

Cutting me off mid sentence he whispered. "Everything will be explained to you soon enough" Then the employee closed the doors behind us and walked away. As we got in the car I looked back at the store and it was black.
