You know that feeling when its the night before Christmas and you can't sleep? Well I tried to sleep at 6 like I always do but when I started thinking about school in 2 hours I couldn't. Before I knew it my alarm clock went off. Oh well I'll sleep tomorrow. I immediately sat up and got ready. Oh goodness I was like a kid in the candy store getting ready. I chose everything perfectly. 8:00 the doorbell rang, I ran in Jacobs room and woke him up. Jaxon was talking to the lady downstairs as I got the tired child dressed.
"Come on Jacob, our teacher is here." He walked out the door zombie like and slowly made his way down the stairs.
"Miss. Sanders meet Katie and Jacob. These are your students." She looked at Jacob and then to me. She fell back and gasped she started slowly backing up to the door her eyes trained on me.
"I'm not sure I'm a good fit for th-this family." Her hand reached the doorknob. Jaxon stepped up to her and she tried to run and flee. He stared into her eyes.
"You do no know who this is, this is the first time you have met miss Katie dannet. The minute you leave this property you will remember her brother and her brother only. Only on this property will you remember katie and you will still teach her." Her eyes glazed over. She nodded and stood up straight.
"Hello Katie, Jacob. Are you ready to learn?" She walked into the kitchen, Jacob followed. I held back.
"This isn't fair. I thought you said that the jock people had taken down all the fliers. How did she know me!" Anger swelling up.
"We will talk after your lesson."
"No, I want to talk now, this is my life Jaxon. I want to be seen in public again."
"You will, but we will talk after your lesson."
"Jaxon! I want-." He kissed me.
"I know how much you love school. So we will talk after your lesson. I promise." He turned and walked away to avoid future discussion. I gave him the stink eye and walked into the kitchen.
"Hello Katie, I am miss. Sanders. What grade are you in?" She reached out and shook my hand.
"10th and Jacob here is in kindergarten."
"Wonderful! But may I ask that is a 10 year difference, is there anyone between you two?"
Jacob responded. "My brother is two minutes older than me. But he's dead. Just like my parents. They are in heaven." He smiled, the look on our teachers face was a look of pure horror.
"Well I'm- I'm- I'm sorry. That's horrible. Well um, are you ready to learn." She reached in her bag and pulled out two workbooks. She started Jacob on the alphabet, and me on chemistry. As she was teaching Jacob her mind was racing.
These poor children, is this why they need a private tutor? Are they mental? I must look them up without them knowing. She glanced at me, realizing I was staring I tried to roll it off by saying. "Jacob? What are you learning?" He looked up.
"Its a secret." I gave him a look, he just giggled and stuck his tounge out at me. Then went back to work. I returned my eyes to the problem I was working on.
How many valence electrons are in LI?
I answered quickly and finished the entire worksheet within the hour.
"Miss? I am done." She looked up from Jacobs workbook.
"Did you understand it?"
"Yes, we learned this a couple weeks ago in school." She leaned over and started going through the textbook. "Where did you last leave off?" I flipped forward a chapter to U3 lewis structure, molecular naming and definate proportion.
"Ok, will you do that page? Sorry to make you repeat." I agreed and started being careful to not get too focused so I could hear what she was thinking.
We went through almost my classes, chemistry, English and French. We were going to do math and U.S history. But I told her I was in the honors curriculum for those classes, she said she'd get those textbooks ordered for me. She pulled out her laptop and purchased them for me. But didn't put it away. She asked if I could grab Jaxon for her. I stood up. I knew what she was going to do.
"You know, our parents died in a car crash trying to get my brother to the hospital after he fell down the stairs. It was devastating, our uncle Jaxon took us in. The funeral was yesterday. But we were homeschooled with our mother so now that she's gone we need a tutor. So thank you for coming." I made sure to use my power of convincing on her. Her eyes glazed over and she closed her laptop.
"I'm sorry for your loss." I looked at Jacob who was giving me a look. He opened his mouth to speak and thankfully Jaxon walked in right that minute.
"How did they do?"
"Very good, they are very smart people. I am excited to come again tomorrow."
"Perfect, well may I escort you out?"
She nodded and the two walked to the front door together chatting about us.
"You lied Katie! That's not how they died." He made a pouty face
"Jacob, we could get in a lot of trouble if she found out how our parents died. I had to, and you do too. Ok?"
"But Pinocchio.."
"I promise you won't get a long nose." I laughed and pulled him into a big hug. Jaxon returned and joined our hug. He walked over to the door and rang a bell. A few moments later the butler walked in.
"You rang?"
"Yes will you take Jacob swimming? Me and Katie need to talk. Thank you." Jacob ran screaming up the stairs, and they both went swimming while me and Jaxon sat on the couch snuggling.
"You said we'd talk. So talk." He groaned and leaned his head on mine. He reached over and held my hand in his.
"The rien did take down all the fliers in the town. But there have been podcasts, and radio, news announcements. The police have been cracking into the case. They have said that you did not personally kill the boy in you house or the nurse or the police. But you are the leader of a gang that did it. They supposedly have finger prints. But the reward has gone up. I'm sorry." I just curled into him. This nightmare keeps getting worse. He pulled a blanket over us and I started to cry. He just held me and massaged my back. I felt his hand slip off my back and his body relax into a sleep. A few moments later I did the same.Than you guys for getting this up to 400 views!! You guys are amazing!
