The one night alone

The return to normal

That night was long waiting in anticipation. When would Jaxon come home? I layed in our bed watching the sun rise. I heard a small thud on my patio. I listened as my door opened and closed. I smelt his Cologne and relaxed. I heard him change and the bed dipped as he layed down next to me. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me to him. I turned in his arms and layed my head on his chest.
He played with my hair and we layed there saying nothing.
"Did you find him?" I whispered softly.
He kissed me head and pulls me closet. I cuddled in to his chest waiting for him to tell me more of my family was dead.
"No." I looked up at him. My face in shock.
"Oh." We layed in silence for a second before he responded.
"I can't do that to you, Katie. I love you, I can't hurt you."
"So what did you do?"
"I ran out and followed him to a house on the border. I almost followed him in but if I did, I would have hurt you. I, I, I can't do that..." He buried his head in my hair. Avoiding shame. I flipped over and kissed his forehead. I fell asleep there on his chest, feeling his chest rise and fall as he breathed.

Four days later: I woke about 7 am, Jacobs laughter could be heard as he played with Aly. The shower was running and Jaxon was singing Adelles new song, I chuckled. I sat up leaned over and grabbed the TV remote and turned the TV on. A rerun of amazing race was on. As the first pair touched the mat and Phil was congratulating them, the bathroom door opened. Jacob emerged in jeans and a red flannel T-shirt with a towel around his head.
"Whatcha watching?" He walked and sat on the edge of the bed.
"Amazing race." He nodded and dried his hair watching the TV.
"Are you going to get in the shower?'
I looked at him
"What's the rush?" He looked at me in shock.
"Its Monday..."
"Ya? So?"
"We have school." My eyes popped out of their sockets. How could I forget? I have been waiting to get back to school and Jaxon had talked to the school board and had aprooved his and mine return. I started online school as fast as I could after I heard. I want to graduate on track like I "Katie." Planned, before all this vampire stuff happened a year and a half ago. "Kaaa-tiee." There's only a term left so I have to work my but off. I can do it though, I can't miss anymore school or else... "Katie!" I realized someone was calling my name. I snapped back to reality realizing Jaxon was staring at me.
"What?" I said. He looked at me like.. Are you serious? I looked at the clock. 7:15. Crap I have 30 minutes til school starts. I leaned forward and gave Jaxon a quick peck on the cheek and ran into the bathroom. I could hear him laughing as I got in the shower. As quick as I could.

On our way to school we dropped Aly and Jacob off at the elementary school. We'd met Jacobs new second grade teacher on Saturday last week. We had talked about his schooling and catching up. We also made sure he was in the same class as Aly, just in case. We pulled into the school parking lot and stepped out of the car. We walked hand in hand through the entrance doors.
"Your Back!!" Gasps and screams circled us as people saw us. Half the school hugged me and everyone wanted to talk to us. Bella eventually cut through the crowd and broke everyone up.
"Hey, hey, hey, let them in. They will tell us everything at lunch but the bells going to ring and I'm pretty sure none of us want to be late to class OK?" Everyone groaned and headed to class as the bell rang.
My First period is in the trailers, Math. I had it with Bella and Izaak. Jaxon had Pe with some of his friends. I sat in class attempting my homework being confused out of my mind and wondering why I wanted to come back here.
Hey I smiled he must be bored too.
Hey wonderful, what's up?
I'm bored. Can you remind me why we came back to this hellhole?
I'm wondering the same thing.
Hmm. I smiled and silently laughed. The bell rang and I packed up my bag and left. Second and third period were boring AF. When the bell rang to release me, I looked over at Jaxon sitting across the room. He grinned and we walked Into the cafeteria. It was filled with much chatter and laughter. I kinda missed it. We walked to our usual table in the corner. Just like normal Jaxons team called him to sit with them but like always he chose to sit with me. Everything was back to normal. Well almost, the minute I sat down a group of people hudled around our table, Questioning everything. Me and Jaxon looked at each other. Oh boy time to lie.
"Well as you know Katie had a party on Halloween and lots of very unfortunate events happened, her family, the police the nurse. When everyone turned against her I stood by her. I knew she would never do that to anyone. She's too kind." He kissed my forehead. "So being a kind soul I his her and her brother at my home til it brew over. But then they caught us and she ran to Arizona. Where she got in a car wreck and had to be hospitalized until she was fine. Now we are back and innocent as ever." Wow he lied a lot and made it simple. They questioned us on what it was like, how it felt to be a fugitive, basic things. But then someone asked.
"Aren't you two getting married?" Everyone turned to the voice. It was a blonde girl, sophomore most likely. Everyone looked at us curiously, some at our faces, some at our hands but most at my stomach. I responded
"Yes we are, and no I'm not pregnant I'm very much a virgin thank you." A lot of people looked away or blushed. Pretty sure everyone thought that. The bell rang to go to the last period of the day. Lucky ducks.

After school Bella, Izaak, Jaxon and I met at the front entrance and decided to go bowling and then to Jaxons house. On our way to the bowling alley I held his head chatting away.
"Oh Katie!" Jaxon gasped. "We have our wedding coordinator meeting us tomorrow I forgot to tell you." Bella squeeled. Oh boy.
I'm going to kill you.
He chuckled and we started the long discussion of the wedding with several fangirl squeels. Somehow through that night we had scheduled everything.
