I gasp as I wake myself back to reality. I push myself from the plush pillows and into a sitting position. The memory box slides off from my hand and rolls down onto the stone floor. I breathe in long, shaky breaths as I tried to calm myself from the recent events. I touch my forehead only to feel cold sweat running down my face. I could feel my throat tighten up and tears forming in my eyes.

I didn't know how to properly recover from the recent events I just witnessed. It was just all too much for me. I thought I could handle it but I was terribly wrong. I couldn't believe this was how Pitch came to be. He was possessed by these creatures and ripped away from his family.

I now understood why he became so evil. The darkness consumed him and he became the Nightmare King, leaving behind a family and a good life. These memories answered very few of my questions, but left me with even more.

"He was completely possessed by darkness, and now he's what he is today. Not knowing how long he has been like this, there's no way to of undoing it," I say to myself. I sigh, "At least I know that he was and still is a kind person, despite everything else. I refuse to believe he completely gave into the darkness. I'm going to help him."

I slide off of bed, kick the memory box under the mattress, and walk towards the window. I need to relieve myself from all that sadness, and the only way I can relax is looking out into nature. I pull open the curtains then take a look at the outdoors. I was surprised to see that it was already night, and the stars and moon were shining in the sky.

"How long have I been out?" I say, barely a whisper.

While examining my surrounding, I notice a shadow, much darker than everything else, flying through the sky. I knew that it must've been Pitch coming back from his nightmare run. I just hope he doesn't expect us to be training this late. I shrug my shoulders, not really caring what happens, close the curtains, and head to my drawer. I decide to change into something a bit more comfortable, so I change out of my outfit, which I was still wearing even after the fight, then into a black loose sweater, black leggings, and stuck with the same combat boots I had on.

Once I fully-clothed, I walk out of my room and head towards the globe, which I figured he may be at. Well, I guess it must've been my lucky day; because, as I walk towards the globe, I see Pitch standing beside the globe, examining the lights that shine on it. He must've heard my footsteps coming near him because before I make it near the globe he acknowledges my presence.

"I would've figured you'd be asleep, just like everyone else," he says, still examining the globe.

"I couldn't... sleep," I say, hoping he will believe me.

"Understandable." It grew silent for some time. I just stood there like a lost puppy while he continues doing his work. He must've noticed my tense state. "Don't worry. I'm not going to make you do work at this moment."

I chuckle, "I know. I wasn't really worried about that."

But, that didn't help lighten the mood. I still stood there like a wooden plank. Then, without a second thought, I walk up to the Nightmare King and embrace him. I didn't know what else to do. Especially after what I just witnessed, I wanted to comfort Pitch, even though he might not remember the horrible things that happen to him. He just needed something good after all that evil.

But, this sudden display of affection caused the boogeyman to tense up. "Wh-What is this?"

"I just wanted to say... thanks, for helping me. No matter what other people say about you, I know that you're a kind person," I respond.
