(Y/n) sighed as she grabbed her backpack out of her locker and walked out to the bus. She was 17 and didn't have a car, not that she minded all that much, her friends mostly drove her places. What she minded right now, was that it was 18 below outside and all she was wearing was a brown leather jacket complete with a fur collar and black tank top underneath. Certainly didn't mean she was warm...She looked around the parking lot outside, wishing that one of her friends was still here so she could get a ride home. One of those friends she was hoping to see was Locus, her closest/best friend. He usually gave her a ride to and from school. She didn't have many classes with him other than Honors English and she hadn't seen him today. Plus, Locus wasn't answering his phone. She sighed worried, a puff of steam coming out of her mouth in the freezing cold winter air as she got on the bus.
(Y/n) was surprised to see Locus sitting in the very back seat of the bus. He was leaning back with one knee propped on the seat in front of him and his other foot on the floor. Lucky him, the jackass had remembered an actual jacket and was currently warm and comfy wrapped in the black and green striped, down filled coat. She envied him. Locus was busy staring at some book on his tablet. She was wondering how he got into that position seeing as he couldn't walk onto the bus without ducking to avoid hitting his head.
His green eyes left the book and her raised a dark brow at her. "You going to sit down (Y/n)? Or would you prefer to stand the entire ride?" (Y/n) smiled and sat down next to him. She'd missed his deep voice and assholey remarks all day. She looked at him. "I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say you got grounded because, one: you don't have your phone, and two: you're not currently driving me home so you must not have your car."
"Felix dragged me to a party with alcohol and we got busted for underage drinking, my mother took my phone and my father took my keys as punishment." Locus explained, his face furrowing as he frowned. "I really need to stop letting him drag me to parties." "I told you that months ago when I had to drive your car home with you passed out in the backseat because you were so wasted you didn't even know my name!" Locus just huffed at her, he still liked to have his fun.
Locus and Felix didn't have the best reputation at the school, (Y/n) was often associated with this because she hung around them. Wash especially didn't like her hanging around Felix and Locus. He kept telling her they were a bad influence. Her excuse was that Locus was going to be Valedictorian so he was, indeed, a good influence.....and Felix allowed her to 'get out of the house every once and awhile.'
Wash didn't agree with that. Sure Locus was the perfect student, but that didn't mean he wasn't into bad things that (Y/n) could possibly get mixed up in. Felix, well, Felix was just plain dangerous and he had the hots for the pretty (h/c) haired girl. Wash didn't want any of that, he had fallen in love with the (Y/n) he knew before Felix and Locus moved here last year.... He wanted that girl back.
(Y/n) settled herself in the seat with Locus, trying to hide the fact she was shivering. She didn't think Locus liked her like she liked him, so (Y/n) didn't want the fact she was absolutely freezing her ass off to look like a sad attempt to cuddle up to the other teen. Shivering, she sat back and propped her knees up on the seat. Digging out her ear buds, she plugged it into her phone and turned on her favorite song.
Locus looked over at (Y/n), she had closed her eyes and tucked her hands under her arms to warm them. She was so beautiful with pink tinted cheeks flushed from the bitter cold outside. The bus's heater wasn't working all that great because of it. Locus liked (Y/n), a lot more than just friends... And he hadn't realized he liked her until last week, when Felix had told him that he was planning on asking (Y/n) if she wanted to skip the lame ass Valentines Day themed dance and just hangout with him at his house instead. Felix made it pretty clear that he wanted to be alone with her.
Locus had damn near lost his temper with Felix. The two had argued and somehow, Wash overheard this locker room feud and joined in. It went on for about an hour before they settled on whoever she asked to hangout with her. They both knew that (Y/n) wasn't interested in the cheesy dance.
Locus watched her shiver again. He gave the girl sitting next to him a small smile, put away his tablet, and wrapped an arm her pulling her close to him. (Y/n) stiffened and opened her eyes, looking at Locus confused. He raised a dark brown brow and shifted so that he was leaning into the the corner by the window. In doing so, he had pulled (Y/n) onto this lap and wrapped both arms around her, his body heat seeping through her leather jacket. She was still shocked, but Locus felt her relax into him.
(Y/n) was grateful for the warmth of Locus's body heat. The scent of his expensive cologne surrounded her and she couldn't help but nuzzle her forehead under his chin to breath it in. Locus actually blushed at this and rested his cheek on her soft, (h/c) hair. They stayed like this for the rest of the bus ride.
(Time skip to next month, Thursday before the dance)
Locus walked next to (Y/n) in the hallway trailed by Wash and Felix. The three of them had been stuck next to (Y/n) since the deal, dropping little hints that (Y/n) was quick to pick up on. She already knew who she was going hangout with.
(Friday night of the dance)
Locus waited with the movie already set up, while (Y/n) shuffled around with the popcorn and hot chocolate. She quick ran into the living room, handed him his mug of the liquid chocolate and plopped down on the couch next to him with her own mug and popcorn bowl. She tucked her legs up onto the couch.
Dressed in leggings, a t-shirt, and aqua knee socks by Pink, she snuggled into Locus. He had on a green t-shirt and fleece, drawstring sweatpants complete with grey socks that had locus on them. (Y/n) had gotten them for the guys as funny Valentine gifts. Wash had grey ones with yellow cats on it and Felix had black ones with orange dollar signs. Needless to say, they got a kick out of the girl's creativity.
From Locus, (Y/n) had gotten her favorite perfume, Felix had gotten her a small opal necklace on a thin gold chain, and Wash gave her a silver cuff bracelet with her favorite animal engraved elegantly into it. The two of them sat on the couch when Felix walked out of the bathroom. "Hey guys, is Wash done fawning over (Y/n)'s new kitten?" Locus shook his head and (Y/n) laughed. "Ugh." Felix flopped onto the couch. Wash came walking in with a small grey and black kitten on his shoulder.
"I found Minnie, she was stuck in the laundry basket. Locus you can start the movie now." Locus just rolled his eyes at Washington as he clicked play. The four of them sat on the couch watching their favorite movie feeling smug at the poor morons wrapped up at the cheesy, probably highly dramatic, Valentine Dance. Not a single one of them knew they would end up in a War, with Wash and (Y/n) in Project Freelancer.... Or that Felix and Locus would become manipulative mercenaries. For now, they were just starting a new chapter in their relationships with one another.
(Y/n) smiled as she sat on the couch, unaware of the pain the future would bring for her and her three boyfriends, and snuggled up in between Locus and Felix. She couldn't help but think to herself as she sat there with them, 'I wonder what the future holds for us?'
