Soda pulled away from our warm embrace. He looked up at me and wiped away and remaining tears with his thumb. Babe, I think you should take the day off. I nodded in response. There was no way I was going to fight with him or anything, because I would just lose. Plus I had a massive headache.

I quickly wrote a note to my boss, making up some story about having a family emergency. It was mostly true. We walked into the garage and Soda told Steve to cover for him for a little while. Then we walked out to Soda's truck.

I felt so weird being around Steve. He's my half brother. I don't think I will ever feel the same around him. People always said we acted and looked like we could be brother and sister. Well there's your explanation.

We arrived at my house. I kissed Soda goodbye and walked up to my porch. I took out my key and unlocked the door. I walked straight up to my bedroom and laid down on my bed. I felt my eyes get heavy and I drifted to sleep.

I woke up and glanced over at the clock. It was ten to six. My headache was gone. Thank God. I walked downstairs.  My mother was sitting on the couch watching the news. "Tammy, you're awake." My mother stated.

"Yeah. How was your day?" I asked trying to make small talk.

"Good. Since you're graduating Saturday, We should go dress shopping now." I really didn't want to go but I have to and it's good to spend time with my mother in this situation.

"Okay lets go." she grabbed her car keys and we were on our way to the shops.

We went downtown the little shops. After a while of trying on dresses I picked out  the perfect one. I bought a pastel blue dress and matching heels. The dress was tight and strapless and reached right above my knees. The heels were the same color and had a strap around my ankle.

We walked back to my mothers car. "Since your father, Dallas, and Johnny will be out tonight would you like to go put for dinner?"

"Sure." I replied. She smiled and continued driving.

A few minutes later we pulled up to a cute little Italian restaurant. We both sat down and ordered pasta and something to drink. Here they wouldn't give me alcohol like they would at The Dingo.

"So how was your day." My mother said as she took a sip of her wine.

"Good. I think I did well on my exam." I said leaving out the part about my drinking.

"That's great sweetheart! Why didn't you go to work today." Damn the one question I was trying to avoid. Lying time.

"Well, I have still not fully recovered from last nights events and thought that I should rest."

"Have you spoken to your father lately?"

"No. But this morning me and Soda were leaving the house and he called me a slut."

"I don't think he has any right to treat you the way he does. I need to have a serious talk with him."

"Thank you mom. It feels good to know that I have somebody on my side."

No problem. Just remember I am always on your side." She said putting emphasize on the word always.

Our food came and we started eating. It was delicious. After our meal we returned home.

I put my clothes away and cleaned up my room a bit before laying down to go to bed.

I started to think. It felt good to know that I have people on my side. After thinking some more about my most recent situation, graduating, final exams, Soda and the wedding I felt my eyes get heavy and I drifted to sleep.
