"Felicia - wait, are you even listening to me? Felicia? Hellooo?"
Suddenly a hand was waved in my face. "Felicia!"
"What?!" I groaned in annoyance.
"You need to help me pick out something to wear, I have nothing to wear to the party!" wailed Maxine.
"What party?" I asked.
"Uhh, the party which Emily said? It's going to be held two days before we leave! I can't believe we are so lucky!"
"Two days before we leave?" I echoed. "Maxine, that's about two weeks later. Are you seriously picking out your outfit now?"
She sulked at me. "Well, unlike you, I don't have a sparkling sapphire dress which your parents gave you last year and you never wore it."
"Because the twins got me a dress already."
"Yeah, precisely. So that means you can wear that dress to the party while I have nothing to wear!"
I groaned. "I'm all for going naked, but I don't think Emily's uncle would appreciate it."
Maxine narrowed her eyes at me. "Very funny. Someone's sense of humour has gone considerably up since yesterday."
I gave her the most innocent smile I could manage. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Oh yes, you do. You and Steve were getting so hot down at the ice rink yesterday, the ice was starting to melt." She looked at me sternly. "Felicia, he has a girlfriend already."
"I'm not getting involved with him, Maxine."
"Oh yes you are. You're getting involved with him all over again," she said.
"I'm not," I insisted.
"Felicia," said Maxine seriously. "I can read you like an open book. You still haven't gotten over him. Don't lie to me."
I opened my mouth to retort, but my words died in my mouth and my face fell.
"I guess you're right," I sighed tiredly, rubbing my hands over my face. "I'm just really tired of all of this."
"Felicia..." said Maxine sympathetically.
I shut my eyes. "Well," I said, my voice determined. "He has a girlfriend already. He has his life. I'm not going to hope anymore."
"Actually, I don't mean to give you any hope," began Maxine. "But according to my sixth sense, you two won't end just like this. You guys were meant to be with each other."
"Maxine..." I groaned. "Would it have killed you not to say that?"
"Well," grinned Maxine. "The temptation, dear cousin, was just too much to resist."
I chucked a pillow at her. "You are so mean. I hope the hot ski instructor never asks for your number."

"Felicia, you're not getting it right," sighed Steve as I once again, crashed on the ice.
"I'm trying here!" I wailed.
He groaned. "Since when were you such a slow learner?"
I slapped his arm. "I'm sorry, some of us aren't as gifted as you."
Steve laughed.
And it sounded really, really nice.
"Look, you managed to get it a year ago. Why can't you do it now?" he asked.
"I'm sorry, but I haven't ice skated since a year ago," I grumbled to myself. "And by the way, don't offer me a hand. I totally don't need your help here. Just leave me on the ice, will you?"
