I blinked for a few moments. Then I started laughing. "That was a good one Steve, could've fooled me -"
"Felicia."
"- there. Now if you'd excuse me, I have a ski lesson this afternoon -"
"Felicia," he repeated, but I desperately continued rambling on, so I wouldn't have to listen to what he had to say.
"- and I need to recuperate since my butt feels like it's broken -"
"Felicia, stop talking," he said.
"- so I'm just. Gonna. Go. Now," I said, before rushing to my feet and hurriedly running off, trying to keep the tears in my eyes.
Did I deserve this?
No, I didn't.
What happened to when you said you loved me?
I blinked back the tears and moved as fast as I could with a broken butt and a even broken heart.
"Felicia," called Steve.
My name in his voice was like a stab to my heart.
"No," I whispered, my voice raspy. "Don't come after me. Leave me alone."
"Felicia, you need to listen to me -"
"Listen to what?!" I screamed hoarsely, turning around sharply. "Listen to you talk about how good life has been, that you've even gotten a girlfriend, while I was back at Stutacco High, worrying about you day and night?"
Steve winced. "It's not like that, Felicia."
"Then what is it like?" I challenged. "Huh? Tell me, Steve, what is it like?"
I was borderline hysterical now, and I slowly moved towards Steve, jabbing his chest with my finger. "You don't come over here and tell me it's not what it seems like, because what else can it seem like when the one I've been waiting for an entire year to return to me, tells me he has someone else?"
I dropped my hand, suddenly feeling very drained. "You know what, Steve? I don't care anymore. You can just piss off and live a happy life with your girlfriend. I don't care anymore."
I slowly walked off, not even trying to hold back the tears anymore.
Suddenly I felt him grab my hand and I was abruptly situated in the warm arms of Steve Collins.
His eyes penetrated my own blue ones. "It's not what it seems like," he repeated, a little forcefully this time.
I stared back in his eyes, challenging him. "How cliche," I said.
I pushed his arms off me, daring him to grab me again. "I'm glad you survived the operation. Goodbye."
And for the third time I walked off.
This time, he didn't stop me anymore.

"Felicia!"
I turned around and saw Maxine running towards me. She took one look at my tear stained face, grabbed my hand and practically shoved me into the hotel room. She stomped out of the room and promptly returned with an entire roll of toilet paper.
I eyed the roll of toilet paper in her hands. "You know you're supposed to get me ice cream and chick flicks, right?"
"You want to eat ice cream in this weather? Are you crazy?"
I looked out at the window, where it was snowing. "Oh."
She handed me the toilet roll. "I want to hear everything. Everything," she said sternly.
"Maxine..." I whined. "Can you not?"
"No, I can't."
I groaned. "We-ell, it was a snowy Thursday afternoon where -"
"If you don't tell me what happened right this minute, I will personally hunt down lover boy and force all the details out of him."
"NO!" I all but yelled. "No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no!"
"So?"
I sighed. "I ran after him, of course. And then I fell down on the ice -"
"Ouch," said Maxine sympathetically.
"And it all just came out," I said.
"Wait, what? Your what came out? Please don't tell me all your flesh and bones gave way -"
"No," I interrupted. "As in, I emotionally exploded on him for all that happened this past year."
"Oh," said Maxine knowingly.
"And then he tells me -" This is the point where the tears threatened to come again. "He - he tells me he has a -" This is the point where the Niagara Falls come on. "A girlfriend!" I blurted out.
I looked up at Maxine through my tear filled eyes.
Maxine looked absolutely livid.
She got up from the bed wordlessly and started walking towards the door.
"Maxine, where are you going?"
"Don't worry, Felicia," she said with her back to me. "Just got some bitch slapping to do."
I never knew I could jump so far. I flew off the bed in record time and grabbed Maxine's hand. "No!" I pleaded. "Don't."
"But Fel, he can't just do that to you! You've been waiting for him for -" She was cut off by the sound of the bell.
"If it's room service coming to deliver the pizza, just leave it outside the door!" she hollered. "Anyway, as I was saying -"
"It's not the room service." A voice outside the door spoke.
I froze.
Maxine stared back at me with widened eyes. "Is that...?" she whispered.
I nodded furiously.
Suddenly an evil grin appeared on her face. "Well, I don't even have to go and find him and give him a bitch slap."
"Maxine - no no NO NO DON'T YOU OPEN THE DOOR -" I screamed so loudly I was sure they could hear it three rooms away.
She paused for a moment and looked at me, and decided that her bitch slapping was more important, and opened the door anyway.

"So..." said Maxine, rather disgruntled as she evidently didn't get to slap Steve since obviously, he was bigger and faster than her.
"So..." mimicked Steve, rather amused as he evidently didn't get slapped.
"Wow, you're really alive," she said.
Steve chuckled. "Alive and kicking," he affirmed.
"And you have a girlfriend," stated Maxine, to which Steve's face immediately fell.
He looked at me with an apologetic look. "Felicia -"
"Don't you dare call her name," snarled Maxine.
"I need to tell her something," he said, sounding rather desperate.
"She doesn't need to know anything, now just fuck off," said Maxine.
"Felicia," continued Steve, ignoring Maxine. "My - my..."
"Girlfriend," spat Maxine rather viciously.
"Yes, my girlfriend," said Steve rather uncomfortably. He sighed, then scratched the back of his ear. "She's Emily."
