~Felicia~
I inched slowly towards the door. Whoever was playing that violin, he or she was darn good in it. My hand was on the handle.
I opened the door ever so slightly. I squinted, trying to make out who was the one playing. I could make out a tall, familiar silhouette in the distance.
Suddenly, the playing stopped.
My instincts took over and I shut the door quietly at superhuman speed. I could hear footsteps getting nearer and nearer. Oh shit.
I ran down the corridor and jumped into the next music room. Quickly, j took my seat at the piano, as though I'd been sitting there all along. I started playing a melody, "Love is Not All Around".
Soon, I was lost in the world of music. I closed my eyes gently and continued playing. I was so engrossed that I didn't notice that someone had been watching me all along.
When I ended, a small applause came from nowhere. I whipped my head behind.
There he was, as hot and sexy as ever, leaning casually against another piano. He smiled hugely at me. "That was nice," he murmured.
Steve. He was watching me. He was the one who was playing the violin.
I smiled gently and nodded my head. I shut my eyes gently. I could visualize him playing the violin, intense and engrossed. I opened my eyes again.
He was right in front of me. Since when did he get so close? "You heard me play," he said. It was more of a statement than a question. I nodded.
Before he could utter a word, I blurted out, "It's okay, I won't tell anyone if you don't want to say. Not even Damien," I promised.
I saw his face relax into a wide grin. "Thanks," he said.
"Will you play for me?" The words slipped out of my mouth before I even knew it.
Shit, shit! Felicia you're such an idiot! How can you asked him to play for you?
"Alright."
I looked up in surprise. He merely shrugged and said, "It's no big deal anyway,"
Steve picked up a violin. Taking a deep breath, he started playing the same sad tune I heard him play before. He seemed so regal under the light, playing the violin without a care for the world.
When he had finished, I applauded gently. It was a beautiful melody. I smiled at him as he gently laid down the violin.
This was such a different Steve from when I saw him in lessons. Normally, he'd be flirting with other girls or annoying me. A chuckle escaped my mouth before I could help it.
Steve looked at me sharply. "Why are you laughing? Was my playing that bad?" he asked.
I was chortling with laughter and I could barely breathe. Steve looked at me as though I had a serious mental problem.
I wiped the tears from my eyes. "I was wondering, if your other buddies could see you playing the violin..." I burst out in a fit of laughter again. "They'd definitely tease you for being some alienic Beethoven who came from Mars," I giggled.
Steve's face was shocked beyond words. "Don't you tell them or else..." he started tickling me, which made me laugh all the more harder.
"HAHA... Okay, stop, stop! I promise I won't tell anyone," I said, trying hard to keep a straight face and not to laugh.
"Good." Steve flashed one of his flirtatious smiles at me, which I responded to by rolling my eyes.
"Just so you know, Beethoven doesn't play the violin. He plays the piano," Steve chuckled.
Oops. Embarrassing. Awkward.
"Next time you want to insult someone, I suggest you don't mention any famous names," said Steve. I could see that he was trying not to laugh.
"Hey!" I slapped his arm playfully. "Are you saying I'm stupid?"
Steve pretended to consider my words. "Hmm..." he said, stroking his chin wisely. "I don't think I mentioned that, Cinderella," he said.
I grinned. "Good."
We sat next to each other for a few minutes in comfortable silence. Steve broke the silence first.
"What are you thinking about? That I'm such a sexy dude that scores perfect marks on every test and can play the violin wonderfully?" he smirked.
I rolled my eyes. "Actually, I was wondering whether you're still mad at me," I said.
"Either way, you're still thinking about me." A superior smile formed on his lips.
I chose to ignore that remark. "So you're not mad at me anymore, huh?"
"That's hard to say."
I sighed regretfully. "I'm sorry," I whispered.
Beside me, Steve rose his eyebrows. "Hmm, what did you just say, Cinderella? You sound like a mouse," he said.
A little louder this time, I said "I'm sorry, Steve."
"Did I mention that I don't have good hearing? Could you turn the volume up higher?" asked Steve innocently.
"I said I'm SORRY, Steve!" I shouted into his ears, irate.
Steve drew away, hands clamped on his ears. "Didn't have to shout," he winked.
I laughed and pinched him playfully. "That's cause' someone was so deaf until I had to shout. It was a last resort," I grinned.
He grinned mischievously. He inched closer to my face until I could feel his breath on my neck. My heart started racing like it was in a marathon.
"Apology accepted," he whispered ever so slightly into my ears. Then he pulled back, satisfied. I let out a breath that I realised I had been holding in the entire time.
"Let's go back, shall we?" asked Steve. I smiled and nodded my head in agreement. He stood up and extended a hand to pull me up. I took his hand and together, we went back to our rooms.
This may sound weird, but I'm starting to think that Steve isn't all that bad after all.
