Chapter 33

I'm talking with Taren when Kristen comes up to me and tells me it's time to go up and sing. I inform Taren that I will be singing, but I don't tell him what I'm singing.

"Hey everyone." I say walking up the stage "I know it's been a while and I've had several people come up to me and ask when I was singing next. Well, you all got your wish."

I look through the crowd. I see Taren in the back with a smile. I put the microphone back up to my mouth to speak.

"So this next song means something to a very good friend of mine." I say "This person went through a lot of struggles as a kid. My friend told me that this is pretty much their theme song. I hope you all enjoy."

The music then starts.

"Like a small boat.

On the ocean.

Sending big waves.

Into motion.

Like how a single word.

Can make a heart open.

I might only have one match.

But I can make an explosion.

And all those things I didn't say. Wrecking balls inside my brain. I will scream them loud tonight. Can you hear my voice this time? This is my fight song. Take back my life song. Prove I'm alright song.

My powers turned on. Starting right now I'll be strong. I'll play my song.

And I don't really care if nobody else believes. Cause I've still got a lot of fight left in me.

Losing friends and I'm chasing sleep. Everybody's worried about me. In too deep. Say I'm in too deep.

And it's been two years I miss my home. But there's a fire burning in my bones.

And I still believe. Yeah I still believe.

After I finish I hear and see everyone applauding and cheering.

The next day, after work, I'm in the cafeteria. After a few minutes my friends come in. We talk about random things, we have a lot of laughter at our table as well.

"Taylor, since you have done zip lining once, will you do it again, with me?" Taren asks

I smile a little.

"Yes, I will do the zip line with you." I say

We spend the rest of lunch talking and laughing. Once the sun goes down, we head to the Hancock building, and zip line down.
