Mom and dad just left for their one week get away. Yesterday the party was a success if I do say so myself.
I leave for work a few minutes after they leave. When I get to my normal spot looking over the Pit, I see Uncle Uriah and Aunt Marlene. They're holding hands and talking.
I like watching couples for some reason. Whether they are older couples, younger couples, or couples in the middle.
I love life in Dauntless. I feel free here.
After my shift I meet up with Taren. Since he is working the night shift tonight, we decided to do an afternoon date just until he has to leave for his shift.
He said wear comfy clothes, so I did. I'm wearing a black, short sleeve, scoop neck, dry fit shirt, black leggings, black combat boots, and a black leather jacket. Or in other words, my usual style.
We are on the train, I don't know where we are going, but Taren has a backpack full of stuff.
"Get ready to jump." He says standing up.
I stand up as well and walk to the opening of the train car.
"Jump!" Taren says and we both jump.
When I get stable again I realize where we are. Millennium park.
We walk over to the bean statue. We climb it and Taren puts a blanket down where we are going to sit. We sit down and he pulls out containers of food, a big bottle of water, cups, napkins, and utensils.
"You said a while back, when we rode the Ferris Wheel after your initiation, that you wanted me to try to make a chicken lasagna. Well I've tried it several times and so here you go." He says opening the container.
Once the lid comes off you can see the steam come off the lasagna.
"You remembered." I say a little surprised. "What else did you bring?"
"I also brought garlic mashed potatoes and Dauntless cake." He says
"Garlic? On a date?" I question
"I brought breath mints don't worry." He says
I let out a small laugh.
"You really did think of everything." I say
He smiles and pours two glasses of water.
Taren must notice I'm shivering because he pulls out another blanket. This one is black, soft, and fuzzy. He wraps it around us and I get closer to him. It's been getting colder for a while.
I take a bite of the chicken lasagna and it's so warm and delicious. The breaded crust, the cream, the chopped up veggies, the chicken, the pasta, it's just amazing.
"Okay, this is so good." I say feeling warm on the inside from the bite I just took.
"I'm glad you like it." He says
We eat and talk for a while. We haven't gone on a date like this in a while. I missed this.
We finish the lasagna and the garlic mashed potatoes. Taren gives me a mint and I automatically take it and pop it in my mouth. After we have our mints we move into the Dauntless cake.
The cake is so moist, fluffy, and chocolaty. It just melts in your mouth.
After we finish eating we just talk. We smile and laugh. I love his smile. We look eye to eye. Something about him makes me feel like I'm about to fall, or turn into liquid, or burst into flames. I love him so much.
