thinking of you

I woke up this morning with a smile. One was because it was Friday, and the other was because of the "malicious killer" in the woods that opened up to me last night had walked me home, and kissed me goodnight! I throw off my blankets and think about dressing up today. I go to my walk-in closet and pick out a ruffled red blouse, black skinny jeans, and my black suede knee high boots. Going into the bathroom i brush my teeth and straighten my hair, and put on some make-up. I think about Spike and i want to do something nice for him. Nothing big, just a friendly i was thinking of you today. I make some coffee and decide that's what i would do. I grab an extra mug and make him a cup of steaming black coffee, grab my stuff and head out the door.

I was a little early today because i wanted a chance to speak to him before the bus got here, i wasn't sure if he wanted our friendship public or not and i could only imagine the trouble it would cost him. Everyone would bully him more because they would probably think he was gonna stab the unsuspecting new girl, how stupid was that. I get to the bus stop and he wasn't here,. I hope he didn't change his mind about being friends with me. A few minutes later there he is, wearing the hoodie he let me use last night to cover my chest.

I wasn't going to say a word, he was gonna have to take the steps to come to me. Well, look at what we have here. He crosses the street to come stand with me. "Hey Spike, I brought you something."

He smiled and came over to hug me as i hand him the coffee mug. "Coffee or hot chocolate?" Looking back and forth between both mugs he chooses the coffee and he takes a sip, being careful of the hot liquid and relaxes.

"Nice, you didn't have to do that though." I gently swat at him arm and tell him that it wasn't a big deal.

"I know it's not a big deal or anything, i was just making some and i thought of you." I noticed that even though he was friendly he still kept his distance, i wanted to hold his hand but i respected his choice. Wait... who holds hands with their friends? Oh lord, i was in trouble here.

"Well, it's a big deal to me and i'm grateful, so thank's." I could tell that he wanted to say something, but he was struggling for the words.

"Just spit it out Spike." He nodded his head and explained his dilemma.

"Avery, if i'm distant at school i promise it has nothing to do with you, okay?"

"I figured, and i understand. I wouldn't want everyone up my ass wondering if i was going to hurt someone either." He scratches the back of his head and puffs out a laugh.

"No, i don't care what they do or say about me, it's just... i don't want them badgering you, ya know."

"Well, i care what they say about you. That's the point of have someone else to count on though, we can take up for each other." He throws his head back and laughs, really laughs and the sight of him happy was heart warming.

" Lady, you sure are something else but okay, if you say so." The bus pulls up and we hop on and he sits down in the seat with me, then looks at me and gives me wink. "Charmer."

I reach over and jerk his hood down "your face is too pretty to be stuck in that hood." He left his hood down and throws his arm around my shoulders.

"You think so?" He was actually calling me out on this.

"Maybe i do, what are you gonna do about it?" He was biting his lip and his cheeks were flushed from the cold air and he leaned down and stared into my eyes and i thought he was gonna kiss me. My body froze and my heart started to pound, when i started to close my eyes his hand came out and flicked my nose. I can't believe he just did that, i was so embarrassed. Great, now i felt as stupid as i probably looked.
