Here i was in my closet trying to figure out what to wear to a picnic, that's how nervous i was. It was stupid really, who dresses up for a picnic? Okay, to hell with this! Jeans, tennis shoes, band t, and chapstick. That's how i was rolling today. I grab my phone and text my mom, telling her that i was with Spike and i was going to try to talk him into meeting her today, but i don't know how well that's going to go. She said that was fine so i ran back downstairs and walked out the door. Spike was sitting on the front porch, lost in his own thoughts. "Hey, i'm ready to go." He jumped up out of the chair and reached for my hand.
"You look hot lady, lets go."
"So where is this picnic?" He looked back at me and i get lost in his smokey brown eyes, they were alight with humor today, not so burdened and i was thankful for that. "You'll see babe, come on. Is that your mom?" We carefully walked around the huge backyard and we could see her still at those damn weeds.
"The one and only, i love her she's such a sweet person." I hoped that would thaw him a little bit and it seemed to because he was staring at her, but with curiosity.
About twenty minutes later we come to a meadow. It was so pretty, grass and flowers everywhere, even birds. "This is so pretty Spike, how did you find this place?"
"I had nothing else to do but explore. I ended up finding this by accident and i wanted to share this place with you, it brings me peace."
"I can see why." We walk through the flowers and come up on a blanket laid in the grass and it had food and drinks sitting on it, there was even a basket with fresh flowers that he picked himself. "Spike this is so nice, thank you."
"I wish i could've bought you flowers but.."
He was always so sad, we have to change that. "I like these better, you actually took time to pick these. I think they have more thought put into them than something store bought, thank you sweet man." I lean over and peck his lips and wrap my arms around his neck to just hold him. He lets go and pulls out a bottle of sparkling cider and two cups.
"I hope you like peach."
"Peach is great, thanks." We drink our drinks and watch the clouds in the sky and play that game, the one where you try to pick out shapes with the clouds. "Okay so i think that looks like a bunny."
"Really a bunny, i think it looks like a lion."
"No way man, it's bunnies all the way." He smiles at me and feeds me a grape, then a berry. "Okay, you can have your bunny."
It was time to hopefully not ruin the rest of this day, i had to talk to Spike about my mom and see if i can get him to come to my house. "My mom and i talked about you today." He froze, i was expecting this so instead of giving him time to freak out i just kept going. "She isn't like everybody else, she want's to meet you, speak to you, get to know you, the real you. My mom is a good personand i told her that i believe that you're innocent and she believes me so.. will you meet her, please." Minutes ticked by and he didn't speak a word and i was worried at how much i had upset him, his face was stone, giving nothing away.
"Sure, i'll do it." I swing my face to his and my mouth gapes open, i didn't think it was going to be that easy, really. "I'm just afraid that she'll hate me and make me stay away from you and Avery, i can't do that." Again, i was a puddle. I've never had anyone who said such sweet things to me like that before and to be honest, i couldn't lose him either, it would crush me. Arron was nothing like this. He was just your everday average asshole. I really don't know why i dated him. we spent about two hours out here doing nothing and it was great. Just looking at the clouds and cuddling.
