My mother was about an inch a way from looking like a pig....and i was right behind her. I think he screwed up because he was cooking from now on. I'm serious people, this was amazing. "Spike, i can not tell you enough how great this is, just wow!" Her words echoed my thought's and i was glad to see him smile, and to see him eat.
I was going to throw out the big bomb here, i just hoped it didn't blow up in my face when i was done. "So Spike went to see his uncle yesterday, he was acting fishy. Isn't that right Spike." If looks could kill i would be dead right now. I knew that he probably didn't want my mom knowing but she could help us, we needed all the help we could get. We were going to solve this case and clear my boyfriend's name. Especially if i had anything to do with it. He was glaring at me from the corner of his eye and my mother caught him, as always.
"Spike it's good to tell me these things. I have an advantage that the both of you do not, i'm an adult. I can help and i want to. So why don't you tell me all about it, okay?"
Spike re-told what happened with his uncle to my mother and by the end of it i think she was just as pissed as we were. "That is just wrong, so wrong. People never even gave you a chance. We need evidence, and a lot of it."
She had her thinking face on. My mother ws up to something and i think it kind of scared me. I look over at him and he had the same look on his face, but for a different reason, he didn't want us involved. He was going to have to get over it though. Him working by his self obviously wasn't working.
"Spike, do you have any idea who would have wanted to kill your parents? Did they have anything important someone would want, someone out for revenge?" She had a good point.
"No mam, not that i knew of. They were rich, but simple at the same time. My parents were good people, but i was a kid so i didn't know much. Why do you ask?"
Our dinner was finished by now so i guess you could call this what... table talk of death? I snorted at my morbid thoughts and rolled my eyes. When i put my cup that i was drinking from down i noticed they both looked at me. Probably from the very atractive snort that just came from my mouth. "What?" They ignored me and continued to have their chat.
"You know what guys, no one really cleaned the house out too much when we moved. Did you check the attic, there could be something in there. Files and records, you never know what you could find. It wouldn't hurt, go on i'll get the dishes tonight."
We get up from the table and go find the attic. "Does this place even hae one?"
He grabs my side and pulls me to him and throws an arm around my shoulders. "Yes it does and no i don't think you want to see the basement, do you?"
On second thought maybe that was something he didn't need my help with. "No, i think i could let you handle the basement, but i'll go in the attic. I think that you're strong enough to tackle the basement by yourself, you're strong... right?" I give him a flirtacious wink and we bust out laughing.
"Oh i am strong baby, look at these guns!"
He lifts up his arm and flexes while placing a kiss on it and winking back at me making me blush. "Shut up and lets go. Damn arm looking like a chicken wing."
He stops walking and i swear i would give a years allowance to have been able to take a picture of his face right now, it was priceless. Mouth hanging wide open, he looked ridiculous. I take off walking to the attic without him when he started yelling at me from behind. "I'll show you chicken wing little girl."
He came up behind me and smacked my butt. Suddenly i was air born. He had lifted me up and thrown me over his shoulder. "Put me down, right now!" He was still laughing at me, this wasn't fair.
"Nope, no way. Not after all that, i guess i'll just have to carry you the rest of the way. Besides you don't even know where we are going." This was true. I stayed on his shoulder for the reamining trip to the dreadful attic, cursing at him with every name i could think of............................................................................................
"This is the grossest place i have ever seen in my life, ugh!" I was totally aware that i was being a girl right now, but come on. "This could take weeks, maybe even longer."
He nodded in understanding. It was like the Adams family lived here or something. "Yeah but we need to. There is a lot of stuff here, it could maybe really help us." He was right but i wasn't going to admit that.
"Were should we start? There's like a million and a half objects in here."
"Maybe right over there where that trunk is? It has a lock on it so maybe something important is in there." I hope this was going to be useful.
We walk on the right side of the wall where there is just enough room to walk through to get in the room. "How are we going to open it?"
"Good point. Do you think you could call your mom and see if she has a crow bar or something that we could break the lock with and if she could bring it to us?" I nodded my head and sent my mom a text, telling her we needed something to break a big trunk lock with. She replyed instantly and said she would be right up.
A few minutes later my mom comes back with bolt cutters. I didn't even know we had those. He takes them and believe it or not it cut through the lock. We open it and are stunned with what we find. I look over at Spike and he was turning green, poor guy. I couldn't believe this. If we hadn't gone up here... "Are you okay, do you need a minute alone?" He shakes his head no and just grabs my hand. No one said a word. It was going to take him days to recover from this. No one could had seen this coming, it was heartbreaking.
