dirty little secrets

We get home and rush upstairs to my room so that we can load the drive on to my computer.  I was so nervous.  We had no idea what could be on there.  Was it what we were looking for or something worse that had nothing to do with us.  We were going on a limb here and this could end up being a worse idea than we thought, after all we did just steal someone's stuff. His uncle Jack's stuff to be exact. I open my door and open my laptop that was sitting at my desk while Spike puts in the drive. The upload only takes a minute and bam, we are in.  I clink the link and let out a breath, only for all of us to suck one back in.  They were pictures. Pictures of a man and a woman kissing. Spike jumps up and flips out.

"Bullshit, no way would he do that to my mother, no damn way!"

"Sweetheart what are you talking about, who is this man and woman?"  My mother just as confused by his anger as i am.

"That's my father and my uncles wife!  What the hell is going on?  No way would he cheat on my mom, he wasn't like that!"

"Spike let's just try to calm down so we can figure this out, okay, come on."

I go over to him and pull him to me and i just wrap my arms around him. He leans into my embrace and lays his head on my shoulder.  I move my hands in a soothing up and down motion across his back, giving him time to calm down so we can figure this out.  He leans back up and takes my hand and sits in the chair at my desk, pulling me with him until i fall into his lap.

"Spike dear, did you ever hear your parents fight?  Any weird behaivior from them at all that you can remember?"  My mom might be the best one for this situation.

"No, i guess they were more careful than i thought. They always watched what they did in front of me, i'm not even sure if i ever heard my mom use curse words, she was a saint."

Don't we all want to believe that. Maybe we need to delve deeper.  "Maybe we need to check the house again.  Maybe she had a journal, maybe he did.  There is still so much stuff of theirs that is still here, we need to figure out why these are here, then maybe we can figure out why they died."

"Good point Ave, but first lets see what else is on the files before we tear the house apart."

We go back to the laptop and it just gets worse.  Pictures of his dad and that woman, and also pictures of the crime sceen, but these look weird.

"Oh my god, i think these were takin before the police got there, the knife is still inside of the body.  Spike didn't you say it was on the floor?"

I look over at him and he was as white as a sheet, this had to be so hard for him.  He has to relive this over and over again.

"Yes i believe it was.  That's why they thought i might have done it.  I had crawled over to my mother's body, less than a foot to where the weapon was laying, it was right behind me.  Whoever did it though took the prints off, that is why they couldn't actually charge me with the murder.  They pulled the knife out, wiped the prints, then threw it on the ground."

That was classic, not!  Gosh this was such a mess. We have to figure this out before Spike's birthday, ugh!  His birthday was only two weeks away and then he would be an eighteen year old millionaire, holy crap.  I don't think that has sunk in though.  Maybe when we can move on from this.  We had the killer though and the proof. We deffinately need to call the lawyer in the morning because i had a feeling we were gonna need him in more ways than one. There were photos of his father and his aunt, then there were pictures of his father lying stabbed to death on the floor and then some of his mother.  It's a good thing that the pictures were mainly taken of the body and not very concentrated on the face, you could totally still see the head though.  This was great evidence.  Here was the question though, other than the cheating was there any other motive?  Did Jack even know about the money?  I wonder of Jack killed Spikes dad in a jealous frenzy, it would make total sense.

We need to get some rest and call the lawyer in the morning while we look for all of that stuff, we had a really long night tonight. My mom quickly agreed and ran off to bed.  I watched Spike and he didn't move or make a sound.  Normally i would have got into bed and left him be but i was afraid of what he would do if i wasn't awake to stop him, this had to be more than enough to take in, this was heartbreaking so...i just sat here.  In his arms in the chair that we were sitting in until i fell asleep because he din't move.  He didn't move me or ask me to stay so i just relaxed and drifted off to sleep and prayed i didn't have nightmares and that he would be here and okay in the morning.
