|Angel (Angela)|

I reach my arm to the right to turn my alarm off shortly after hearing it early Monday morning, getting up out of bed. After taking a shower and brushing my teeth, I pick out my clothes for the day. I put on my undergarments, before drying my hair, applying foundation, a little bronzer, eyeliner, and lastly mascara. Then I get dressed in my black skinny jeans, my black band tee that has the bottom half ripped off and holes littering it, also picking my red plaid button up and red plaid headband. After putting them on and rolling my sleeves up, I sling my school bag over my shoulder and make my way downstairs.

"Wow, back to putting effort in I see." My mother eyes me when I get downstairs and I chuckle.

"Yeah, I guess. Though you should know by now I just don't do anything on Wednesdays and Fridays because of practice."

"Oh yeah, that's right. Did you want a ride to school today?" She asks.

"Sure, I'm going Alex's after schools over. I told you yesterday?" I remind her.

"Yep, I remember. Now let's get you to school before you're late." She grabs her keys and I follow her outside to her new silver car, the one that she bought when she gave me her old one.

------

When we get to school I wave goodbye, saying I love her like usual. It looks like Alex hasn't shown up yet, not surprising since I'm nearly 20 minutes early, so I lean against the tree that grows between the school and the curb to wait for her. A few minutes pass and some girls are laughing and stop when they see me, whispering about something. I'm ignoring it until I look up and see that they're staring right at me.

"Take a picture." I say loudly, looking right at the girl in front. Adding a curse word under my breath.

"Sorry," she approaches me. "Maybe it's because you're dressed like him, but you really look a lot like a guy in a band we like. We were just talking about their performance at the 1D concert last night and noticed you."

"I've gone to school with you for like 12 years now Sarah." I say with a scoff.

"Yeah, but we didn't know about him until now. Its kind of freaky actually, you look exactly like him, but in a girl form of course." She practically sneers, laughing and waiting for a reaction from me. When I stare at her blankly, she begins going on and on about how I'm apparently dressed exactly like him. Thankfully Alex chose now to show up, wrapping her arm around mine and dragging me away.

"Thank you Jesus, that was so annoying." I sigh.

"No problem, peasant." I quirk an eyebrow at her and we both crack up laughing on our way to homeroom. By the time science comes around, I was thinking about how my mom reacted when I told her about the DNA project. Our teacher said we could wait to look at the second member of our teams results until next week if we wanted to, or we could work through all the steps at the same time since we had to take the samples at the same time anyway. As long as both were done by the end of next week, she didn't really mind what order we did anything in.

"You wanna wait or just double team it?" Alex turns to me when the teacher's done talking.

"I kinda wanna see now, before my mom has any say. Ya know?"

"It's not like she can change anything now." She points out.

"I guess I just want to know why she freaked out, maybe seeing the results will tell me." I say, reaching for the envelope with my name on it. I stare at it for a moment before carefully opening the top and taking a thick packet out. Apparently blood has a lot of information in it.

"Look this is so cool!" I looked at Alex and she was holding a section of her packet up. "It tells you where you're from! I mean obviously I'm from America, but it tells you what percent of your genes is from the different continents! I'm 6% British!" She squeals. She's so excited over it that I can't help but laugh a little and shake my head. "Oh come on, that's cool! Let's see you come up with something better." She gives me a smug look and I roll my eyes, looking back to my own results.

"As if." I scoff, flipping through to the page she was on in her packet. I stare at it for a few seconds, trying to understand what it says. I laugh a little, shaking my head as if in denial. "This is ridiculous. It's wrong, it has to be."

"What? Let me see." Alex takes the packet from my hands and I sigh at her rudeness. "Ha! It says you're like 80% Australian! And then some Irish? You know, I'd say that they're off but a lot of things are starting to make sense." I scoff at her and snatch my packet back, flipping through the other pages frantically.

"This isn't even the right blood type. My moms would be different from what it is if this were right, if I'm O then how is she AB?" I pinch my nose in confusion and frustration, then bury my head in my hands.

"Hey maybe she's not your mom." Alex laughs, dying it down when she realizes I'm not laughing at her joke. I lift my head to look up at my best friend. It's crazy, but everything is kind of beginning to make sense.

"What if you're right?" I wonder aloud.
