"Sasori has perished."
Pein tossed the empty puppet shell in front of the remaining members. I watched not saying a word as everyone left the room. I grew fairly close to the puppet master and now he's no longer with us. It was matter of time before our cursed past be the death of us all. I kill people with no mercy yet I felt a pang of guilt when I heard Sasori got beaten by his grandma.
"Has Sasori's death gotten to you? There's more to it than you think." I looked up at Itachi, my eyes all puffy from being close to tears. "Everyone at least once loses someone close to them. The pain never ends, the memory never fades. But we all find something to erase that feeling and start anew."
My lips twitched to a smile as Itachi landed a hand onto my shoulder, giving it gentle squeeze during his last sentence. He's right. I may experience pain and loss to no degree, but I'll have my father to make it more bearable.
"Let me help you to your room Lady Juno, you look a little weak." Itachi carefully walked me to my room, my arm around his neck. "Your emotions shouldn't get in the way."
I sat on the edge of my bed taking off my sandals. Itachi fluffed up my pillows after laying my cloak across my desk chair. I laid back on the soft comforter sinking in my own thoughts. It had me wondering, what will happen to the rest of us? Will I be the last man standing? Could we ever find peace?
"Shh...stop thinking and relax." His voice was like a lullaby. A deep motivating lullaby.
"Will you stay with me?" I whispered looking up at the ceiling, "I don't want to be alone."
He nodded keeping the silence. I smiled closing my droopy eyelids.
Maybe everything will be okay.
