Mitch
Kirstie came to the back of the shop with the two coffees, and plopped down beside me.
"Well, that was a total bust." I sighed.
She giggled. I glared at her. "What is in any way funny about this?" I snapped at her.
She sobered up quickly. "Check the bottom of your cup, but dont make it obvious."
I finished my coffee, and started toying with the cup. I peeked underneath it, and found a phone number written on it.
I added it into my phone, before tossing the cup out carelessly.
We left, heading back to my house to chat.
Scott
I watched as Mitch left the shop, without looking at the bottom of his cup, just throwing it out.
I bit my lip, accepting that he probably wasnt intrested.
I worked a double shift, then turned on my phone as I left.
It rang out, notifying me of a text. My heart raced as i checked it. I sighed when i saw that it was only one of my coworkers.
Alex: You sneaky little bastard
Scott: What? Why?
Alex: I saw you slip that twink your number... did he go for it?
Scott: ):
Alex: Sorry Scotty.
Scott: No, it's fine. I may have accidently called Mitch and the girl Kirstie a couple.
Alex: 0:
Alex: YOU BLOODY IDIOT SCOTT!
Scott: I know, trust me, I know.
Alex: You need me? We can get cheap wine and watch stupid movies.
Scott: No, its fine. I should probably get some cleaning done.
Alex: k. Im here if you need me though
Scott: Thanks. He locked his phone, putting it in his pocket.
It buzzed again as soon as he turned his car on.
"God damnit Alex, just go away." He muttered.
He started to drive home. His phone kept buzzing.
When he got into his shoebox of an apartment, he grabbed his phone impatiently.
Unknown number: Hey
Unknown number: Scott from the coffee shop?
Unknown number: Hey its Mitch
Unknown number: Mitch, the brunette that you wrote your number at the bottom of his cup?
Unknown number: Helloooooo
Unknown number: I must have the wrong number, so sorry.
Unknown number: He must have given me a fake number. Oh well. He was too cute to be true.
Unknown number: So sorry to whomever this is.
I stared at the messages, cursing his timing.
Scott: I am sooo sorry, I was driving.
Mitch: Oh...
Scott: I had given up after the first four hours, i didnt think that you were going to text me.
Mitch: What?!
Scott: I mean, i didnt think that you had even seen it, how you threw out the cup.
Mitch: Oh my god, I am SOOOOOO sorry! I was just following my friends advice!!
Scott: Dont worry, its fine.
Mitch
I stared at my phone for several minutes, waiting for another text.
Scott: So... would you like to go to dinner with me sometime?
Mitch: Mmmmm... depends. Are you asking me on a date?
There was a pause on his end.
Scott: I believe that I am.
Scott: Mitch, would you like to go on a date with me?I stared at my phone smiling.
Mitch: I would love to, Scott.
