Chapter 10

P.O.V- Kim

I've been here for maybe a week now. I haven't figured out an escape plan yet, but I'm actually beginning to like it here.

What am I saying? I like it here? Great.

Tim comes in every night just before I fall asleep. I always try and keep my eyes open, but my eyes always grow heavier when he comes. By the time I wake up in the morning, Tim is usually gone and Kain tells me he had some business work to work on.

One day I was surprised when Kain told me that Tim had asked him to show me around the clan.

So I quickly run into the back room to change into some, at least decent, clothing, and then we head out.

Kain takes me into the main house, which I had never been aloud in, but it was very beautiful. The walls were all white with light coloured drapery.

As we're walking around in the house, a girl walks up to us, this was the first girl I'd seen here, but she smelt different. She wasn't like all the guys here. She wasn't a shapeshifter, but something else. Not as strong as us.

She bounces up in front of me and wraps me in a hug. I stand there frozen and then Kain finally speaks up.

He chuckles and then says, "this is Jessica. She's a human. A couple of us have human mates of our choice."

Jessica lets out a giggle and looks at me. "Hi! It's nice to meet you! I only see a few girls here but they're all human like me! I've never seen a girl shapeshifter before!." Her eyes go wide as she looks me over. "I thought there wasn't any left after that one dragon. We studied her and a few of the guys learn to change into a dragon, but never as powerful as she was."

"Hi Jessica. My name is Kim. Do you mind me asking who your mate is? I don't mean to be of a bother, but I'm just curious."

She giggles again. "Oh it doesn't bother me. My mates name is David. You might meet him later on, but be careful, he has a temper when it comes to newbies."

With that she skips off. I turn to Kain who is just chuckling.

"Come on Kim. Lets go meet David. He shouldn't be far."

We both head through the house and outside to the beach. I was surprised I didn't see any guys heading out there, but also kinda pleased. I didn't feel like being eye raped again like last time.

We walked for maybe five more minutes down the side of the beach. Kain kept trying to get me to make eye contact, but I didn't really want to. I felt strange walking with guys. After what I dealt with, I wasn't sure who to trust.

Kain led me up to a group of guys.

"Hey David, what's up?" He said sounding almost like a younger teenage guy.

I held back from giggling, but kept watching to see who would speak.

Finally a guy taller them me stepped out. He looks about 6 feet tall. He had tanned skin and dark brown eye with almost black coloured hair.

"Hey Kain. We're just planning where we're going to be patrolling tonight." He turns and looks at me. "And who's this little lady?"

I tense up and then Kain chuckles. "Don't worry. He's not like the rest of them. David, this is Kim. Kim, this is David. He's the head patroller here. He gets orders from Tim and then tells them where all of the patrollers will go unless Tim says otherwise."

I look up and the two guys and smile a little. They seemed nice. I remember Jessica said David had a short temper so I was a little nervous. I've seen him yell at the patrollers as we approached so I was a little nervous. After a little both men smile and we say our good-byes for now.

David didn't seem to have a short temper around me. There was something about him. I could tell he kept to himself.

By the end of the day I've met almost everyone. From mates to the second in command. I was beyond exhausted.

We got to the cabin and I thanked Kain for what he had done and went inside. When I went inside Tim was sitting on the couch.

He turns and looks at me. A smirk appears on his face. "Hello dear. I need to talk to you."
