Chapter 23

Light was pouring the windows. It slowly crept up the blankets covering me. I opened my eyes and sat up and looked around. The blankets were a deer skin and fox skin. The walls looked like they were like mud huts. A small door was to the left, and a window at my feet. Small furniture was around the room making it look welcoming.

I slowly throw the blankets to the side and hop off the small bed and head for the door. I grab the nob and turn it until it clicks. I duck through the door and slide through into a small kitchen like room. The lady I saw last night it sitting at a table talking to someone.

I make my way over there and I see a girl that's just as short as Xzeria, but looks younger. They're talking fast, but in a totally different language. I guess it's their native language for this village or something?

"Ah! Miss. Kim! Your awake! Great to see you up on your feet. Did you sleep well? Sorry we couldn't give you a better room." She smiles and the girl she was talking to looks at me and smiles but walks off shyly.

"Where's Tim?" I looked at her and then looked around the building searching for any signs of him. The scent of the buildings seem different as well, but I can't even pick up his scent, just the people's scent.

"Miss. Kim, could you please relax? How about stay awhile and learn about this small village? Then we could take you. . ."

I cut her off before she could finish. "Where's Tim? Only gonna ask one more time."

Xzeria sighs and nods. "Yes ma'am. It's a distance, so I guess I can tell you about our plan and about the village." She gets up, says something to the girl, who then nods and leave, then turns to me. "This way."

She begins to lead me out the door, and into a small looking village just outside the door. There was a blacksmith man, a bakery, and so many other people that helped with the town. Almost everyone had some kind of job, no one was standing around.

"This is a village that has been here long before the palace and it's ancestors were here. You were here, just in a different body. You are something special, not just a normal shapeshifter as you know. Your family has been in the palace for awhile. 'The Hall family, ancestors to the throne'" She quoted herself when she did that, which made me really confused.

"Wait, so I'm not just a shapeshifter? So if I'm not a just a shapeshifter, then what am I?" I rolled my eyes just for effect.

"The Hall family isn't exactly the rightful heir to the throne, they stole it way back, just before you were born to be exact, but you are the rightful heir. Not your brother. Your "mother" isn't actually yours. Your mother is actually a commoner in the village. She's been watching you throughout the town. She's the rightful heir, along with your father and you. The only way your mother isn't queen, is because she faked her death."

As soon as she said that everything changed. I wasn't sure what happened, but I felt like I was floating, it was like I went back in time. I was there, but I wasn't.

My surroundings changed. I wasn't in the village anymore, instead, I was in the town by the palace. There were people surrounding the place. When I looked down, there was a little girl, she was holding an older mans hand.

'Are you sure you wanna watch this?'

'Yes Opa. Mama told me she always gonna be here. Said she never gonna leave me. She said she gonna be a Mumo. Always gonna be here to play with me'

The old man sighed and picked up the little girl and put her on his shoulders. Her flame red hair and blue eyes were just too familiar. I close my eyes and here a bunch of gasps erupt from the crowd. Right before then I hear a board drop and creak.

Then everything changes. "Miss. Kim? Miss. Kim? Are you okay?"
