Chapter 22

So, if Liam is unable to change, then how can he stop me?

A smirk is on my lips. So what kind of animals could break down a door? Bear? No. I don't know how he'd be able to do that.

I was thinking for a good five minutes until I found the perfect animal. I feel my bones shift and my body grow. I decided a rhino. I back up facing straight towards the door. I bend my head down and charge towards the door. I slam up against the door and I hear a crack, but it doesn't break.

I back up again and charge towards the door, but before I hit it I feel something stab my shoulder. I shift back and look and I see a cut along my shoulder. When I look at the door, a guard it there holding a knife with some blood on it. The door slowly fixes itself. I glare at the guard and then go and sit back against the wall.

Well that didn't work. Maybe I'll try again tonight. A guard comes in and throws a tray of food at me and walks out and locks the door. The tray had barely anything on it. It looked like this mushy brown stew stuff and a piece of bread.

I roll my eyes. Wonderful. I am a prisoner.

I stand up and look out the small window window above my head. The sun is setting behind the mountains. I stood there for awhile just looking at the window.

I started getting sleepy so I sat back on the floor and leaned against the wall. I slowly began falling asleep. I was still hoping Tim was okay. I needed to make sure he was. I just didn't know how.

I had been sleeping for a good two hours, because when I woke up it was pitch black in the cell, except for the light pouring in from the full moon outside. It made the cell light enough I could see everything.

I couldn't go back to sleep. I wasn't sure why, I just couldn't. Everything seemed so distant in my brain. I hear the creak of the door and I look forward and I see the door closing slowly. I see a dark figure and growl.

The figure shushes me and comes into the light. It's my father. I narrow my eyes and look at him. "It's okay. I'm not gonna hurt you." He had a look of worry on his face as he looked at the cut on my arm. I look at it and see it hasn't really healed. "Silver?" He looked at me.

"I'm not sure. They just cut my shoulder when I tried getting out. Why are you here?" I narrowed my eyes at him and looked at him.

"I'm not like them, trust me. I'm gonna help you get out, but you need to trust me." He put his hands out slowly in a calming sense.

I began to calm down and just looked at him. "How?"

"Well I can help you get out now, or in the morning." He smiled a little and that made me relax. "I have the keys, but you can't come back here, or they'll lock you up again."

I nodded and stood up. He handed me a set of keys and pushed the door open. He led me through the dungeon area and to a small door. He held it open and I slid through. "Go through here, your going to follow this all the way down and then take a right. It'll lead you to the forest. I've already got your friend out, but he's wounded pretty badly."

I nod and began following the path. The pathway was all rock. Barely any light in there, but I guess my cat eyes helped me see in the dark. The sounds of my feet were a very light click.

The path began getting more narrow as I went on, so I shifted into a leopard and easily slid through the passageway to the end. I turned right and shifted back into myself and followed it until I found the doorway my father had been talking about.

I pull the latch on the door and the door pops open. The night sky is above me. A circle of pine trees surrounding the door. Slowly I reach up and feel the grass on my fingers and pull myself up onto the grass. I close the small opening and look around for Tim.

I began walking until I heart the faint sound of a heartbeat. I looked around for any sign of Tim, only to see nothing. Suddenly I hear the crunching of twigs and I jump out behind the tree. A small lady comes out. She looked like she was maybe 50 or older. "It's alright child. I'm not here to hurt you. My name is Xzeria."

I watched the little lady hold out her fragile hand. Her voice was with a thick accent. Barely made her voice understandable. I watched her like a scared little puppy. "I know you are the Princess young lady. I'm not going to hurt you. We found your friend and took him to our village for healing."

She bows her head and me and takes a step forward. I slowly reach out and take her hand. She stood maybe a good foot smaller then me. Making he just over 4 feet tall. She begins leading me through the forest, and I feel a sense of relief wash over me.

Maybe this lady can help me. I'm sure she can. "We've been watching over you in the forest my dear. No reason to be alarmed." A faint smile appears on her lips. I couldn't see her features very well in the moonlight.
